Skye
I try to distract AJ from what’s going on around us the best I can, but the reality is I’m scared out of my mind and there’s nothing I can do to help distract me from that. He tilts his head to the side, and he says, “That’s a weird color.”
I’m intrigued by his comment and I ask, “What color do you see?”
“It’s kind of yellow, but not really. It’s like darker like there’s a gray shadow over the yellow.” He looks at me curiously, “What are you feeling?”
I sigh, “Honestly?”
He nods, and I answer, “Fear… nervous. I want to be out there with your mom, but I thought you’d feel better if I stayed here.”
He smiles, “My mama is powerful you don’t need to be worried about her.”
I nod and we begin to play uno together when Emma rushes into the room and says, “Skye, come with me we have to hurry.”
I look at AJ and his eyebrows are furrowed with confusion and concern and I grab his face and make him look at me and say, “I will be right back, I promise.”
He nods in understanding and I rush to follow Emma out of the bunker.
She starts running and I follow her, and she says, “When we get there you need to use your powers and wipe them out. I don’t care if you kill them or just make them pass out, I just need to get to Ryan, okay?”
“Got it.” I answer with a nod.
Fear grips my heart that something might actually be wrong with Ryan and Parker.
We get to the area where Ryan is and there are at least 5 Aberrations attacking him and he’s on the ground and not fighting back which is worrisome. I use my electricity and shock all of them simultaneously right down into hell. As they all fall Emma rushes to Ryan and puts one hand on his head and one on his stomach as she begins to heal him.
He’s in bad shape. His face is swollen, and his head is bleeding, and his lip is busted as well, there are scrapes, dirt, and bruises all along his arms, and I can only imagine how he looks under his shirt considering I saw some of the kicking his abdomen.
I watch as he winces, and I feel relief flow through me knowing he is alive. I don’t say anything to Emma because I don’t want to bring her out of her concentration of healing him.
I watch as different marks slowly patch themselves up and there is no more blood oozing out of him. His eyes open and he gasps and clenches his hands into fists and Emma says, “Calm Ryan, just breathe.”
He lets out a choppy breath and says, “Son of a b***h that hurts.”
She nods, “They broke some ribs… it’s painful to make those heal.”
He nods in understanding and he his eyes glance up to me and he glances beside him and sees the scorched bodies and says, “Thanks Skye.”
I nod, and he asks, “Do you guys know where Parker is?”
I shake my head no and look towards Emma. I know that when she’s fixing bones, she has to focus on the area so she doesn’t do it wrong. He sighs sadly, “What if they got her?”
I answer, “She’s a fighter. Not even AJ was worried about her.”
He winces again and Emma mutters, “Sorry.”
He lets out a sigh of relief when she finishes and she takes her hands off of him and he says, “Okay, time to find Parker.”
We nod in agreement and follow his lead. I can tell by his facial expressions he’s trying to connect with her, so I trust he knows where he’s going.
Parker
I have no clue how they were able to separate me and Ryan so easily and so quickly. I growl in frustration and look around, but no one seems to be here. I know someone has to be here there’s no way that attack was meant just for him.
I hear Hunter’s voice, “Parker.”
I turn towards him- he doesn’t look as disheveled as the last time I saw him, but there’s still something off about him that I’m having a hard time pinpointing exactly what it is that’s different.
He smiles and asks, “Are you ready to go, dear?”
“Away from you? Always.”
He frowns and says, “I don’t like your sarcasm.”
I shrug, “You never did.”
His jaw clenches tightly and I look around and seeing that no one else was around I knew this was my chance to be able to kill him.
I ask, “So, you trust it to just be the two of us?”
He smirks, “I know you can’t kill me, Parker. You’ve never been able to.”
I press my lips tightly together hating how right he is. Even when I lost Ashton, I still didn’t have it in me to kill him otherwise he would be dead now. I feel the fire underneath my skin ready to come out and burn him till he is dead. He looks down at my hands and says, “Settle down, Parker, you don’t want to do something you’d regret.”
I rush towards him and grab him by his neck and lifted him in the air and ask, “Why do you think I would regret it?”
He kicks me in my stomach making me let go and fall back. I look at him and as he gets up it’s almost like he glitched because for a split second he was like a foot shorter and the top of his hair was a different color.
He glares at me and says, “You know, the longer you resist the more likely your little friend is going to die.”
I scoff, “Ryan knows how to handle himself.”
“Do you really think so?” He asks with his eyebrow c****d up as he looks at me skeptically. My eyebrows furrow and he tells me, “Shush, listen carefully.”
I close my eyes and focus on the sounds around me and in the faint distance I can hear him yelling. I grind my teeth feeling frustrated with the situation and in the time my eyes were closed Hunter came close to me so close that I can feel his breath on my skin as he says, “All you have to do is surrender and I’ll order them to stop.”
Fury rages through me and I push him back with fire in the palm of my hand as I say, “Not a chance!”
He screams from me burning him and I watch as the flames quickly engulf his clothing. I want to stay here and finish the job, but I know that Ryan needs me more right now.
With that I run to find him knowing that I have injured Hunter plenty today and one day soon I will have his head.
