She beamed at him. ‘Right,’ he muttered. ‘I ought to know better than to ask.’ He paused, thinking. ‘You know… if Myrrolen Senior was lamaeni too—and chances are, he was—I wonder what happened to him?’ ‘Mhm,’ Nanda said thoughtfully. ‘Good question. Why is Myrrolena the Younger in charge of the circus in the first place?’ Konrad spent much of the day investigating Myrrolena’s competitors, with periodic help (and many a sarcastic comment) from Irinanda. He did so more as a matter of form than with any expectation of finding anything useful.
