Chapter Six
‘Konrad!’ hissed a voice soon afterwards, directly in his ear. Konrad sat bolt upright, bashing his head against that of whoever had woken him, and gave an inarticulate exclamation of pain and confusion.
‘Ouch!’ continued the voice.
‘Nanda?’ said Konrad, trying to see in the pitch dark. He could make out only a dim outline of a person standing not far away.
He had a moment’s heart-pounding misgiving that it might not be Nanda; might, in fact, be someone altogether more threatening; but in the next instant, his deliciously warm duvet was unceremoniously ripped off him and Nanda’s voice said very tartly: ‘Time to get up! We have a great deal to do!’
Konrad stumbled out of bed, muttering, and lurched towards his dressing room. ‘Nan, what are you doing in my bedroom?’
