Spirit of Marilyn, and other popular stars… I wish I possessed the invisible cloak, like Harry Potter. After losing my favourite author’s $5, 000, 000 manuscript… I really wish I could not be seen!
Fuck this! I’m running off!
Just as I did, some bolts of thunder stroke. Heavy droplets of rain began to fall. I paused my movement for a bit, looking up at the sky in awe.
I’m now like an actress in tragic movies, aren’t I?
My eyes connected to warm blue eyes, and a dark wet hair covering a part of it. Large arms wrapped around my waist, giving me dreamy sensations that made me gulp.
“C-Colton?”
I wondered how he highlighted from his car so fast, in spite that I had been running. In his hands was a yellow umbrella, which prevented the rain from making me wetter.
Wetter.
Why did that look like it had two meanings right now…
“You’re going to catch a cold, sweetheart.” he murmured.
My heart thudded frantically, racing at the sparks that ignited and the butterfly feeling that rested at the pit of my stomach.
“I shouldn’t be facing you now…” I sorrowfully said. “You shouldn’t be helping me now, Mr Colton,”
“What do you mean, Miss Gremory?”
“I um—"
“Rias! Ri-ass!” some voice yelled. I looked back only to see Reyna roaming around drunkenly in the rain. It was evident that she was looking for me.
“Where are you, bestie?! You promised not to leave me in the dark…” she sobbed brokenly
Her alcohol always took long to wear off.
“Hmm,” I cleared my voice, quickly untangling myself from Colton.
“I have to go now, Sir.” I said.
The untangling effect made the rain locate me, once more. This time, occupying my glasses which I so much hated.
“Go with this,”
Colton retorted, putting the umbrella in my hands.
O-Oh no! My heart was fluttering again. I had a bad history with men. I wasn’t prepared to get involved with one again…
“T-thanks.”
I took it running off. It all happened so fast that I begun to overthink. Maybe I shouldn’t have taken his umbrella. My debts to him where too much that I couldn’t accept favors from him.
Alpha Stone’s Pov
“Come on!”
She exclaimed, in the conference room motioning for us to leave. She… didn’t know how attractive she looked right now. She… didn’t realize how she turned me on with every movement of hers.
She, made my heart flutter.
The first time I laid my eyes on her, I felt a comforting feeling. No sparks like the cliché feeling, just serenity, like the peace and calm of the deep blue sea.
More like home.
It wasn’t at the bar, that night. Rather, somewhere I never did expect to meet her. After searching for my mate, for so long. I met her at a book signing event. A normal day, in which I wanted to quickly show up and go back to my mum who was so ill.
She had an incurable disease, that could lead to her demise and it really saddened me.
“Are you kidding? Are you serious? He’s going to be here!”
Those were the voices of some fan girls, chattering at my supposed presence. My wolf hearing made their words evident. I wouldn’t deny. They kind of added a bit of drama to that day.
“Oh my, you’re right! There he is! AWWNNN!! He’s so handsome!” another remarked.
“Sir Colton, over here! Over here!”
I recalled smiling to them in my black overcoat, and waving them. My Beta, was just by my side. He was my manager, in the normal world. My wolf, Leo, liked the attention he was being given.
But on discovering that his mate was, he almost lost it.
“Get mate, now!” he yelled.
There she was, in an oversized amber sweater that covered her entire hands, and faded blue baggy jean. Her hair was in a messy bun, and her glasses covered about half of her facial features. Her face, desperate to reach for the front.
She tried to maneuver her way, amidst the crowd of people. It was to no avail, however. More like a mission impossible, from her petiteness.
“Mark! Mate! Now!” he mightily exclaimed to me.
I quickly took the pen at his tantrum, and signed the required books quickly. As I did, my hands vibrated, shaking. I was having a chain reaction. A restraint, from not touching her at that moment. Which could be dangerous for any wolf, especially an Alpha.
She, was tempting. In this reality, she was.
Her scent was the most heavenly sensation ever…
“Everything okay?” My Beta Cross asked.
“We need to leave now.”
I seethed at him, to avoid doing anything stupid. I had worked hard to build this reputation for years. Didn’t want my wolf to surface and crumble everything.
“Oh no! He’s leaving!” A fan girl cried out.
“We’ll be forever honored, sir Colton!” she added.
“We’ll be forever honored, sir Colton!” The entire crowd repeated, yelling in support and bowing to pay their respect.
Luckily got in my private bus on time. But Leo wasn’t having any of it. He made me shift uncontrollably, the instant the chauffeur sped off, tearing and clawing at everything.
It was an epic scene. Leo destroyed everything, demanding for his mate. The chauffeur was human, although his driving boundary was far off, in another room.
My Beta quickly threw us both away from the moving car. Rolling over, with injuries which immediately healed back. I howled running into the forest and he followed me, shifting too.
“Alpha! What are you doing? We need to get there soon, before it’s too late!”
"My mate, she-" what was I doing? I should protect her, and not let anyone know that I've found her until things were safe at my pack.
Mother was the only one that prevented me from going to her that day. I needed to go to her, as soon as possible. Thankfully, she was alive when I got back to the packhouse. I went back to the scene of the book signing event. But she was long gone. My mate was long gone.
After that day, I saw her next three years later at the bar and it tore my heart on discovering she was human. It meant she was more vulnerable to attacks.
I had to protect her. And keep her safe.
