At dinner, we had guests. Two women who were introduced as Emogene and Gladys. Apparently, they were aunts to Maddie, and were super sweet.
They had us laughing so hard telling stories about little pranks they used to pull on each other, and how they had managed to survive the life they had grown up in.
Although their childhood was horrible, together they found a way through it. I hoped that now they were in Madison’s life, they could help her heal as well.
“How long do you ladies think you will be in town?” Heather asked. I was hoping someone would ask, and I hoped they would stick around until we at least left for Seattle.
