Daniel stormed out of the house and ran towards the wood. He paused long enough to mind link his wife instructing her to jump out of the house through Meagans window. He hated himself for thinking it, but he feared his parents would injure her if he left her alone in the house. She shifted as she jumped and then picked up a bag in her teeth that she had thrown to the ground. She met him in the tree line and they took off at a dead run. Initially Daniel was not sure where to go but as he calmed down he became more clear headed. Dyann never gave them much trouble until she started her job at the doctors office. She had a friend there. She had someone who knew their secrets. He would find that person. It was the other girl. Jenna. They made their way through the woods closer to town. He went to the office first. If he could pick up her lingering scent around the building maybe he could track her. His mate checked the trash behind the building. She picked up Dyann’s scent on some left over food containers. There was another scent. She growled to catch Daniels attention. He came over and together the picked up the scent and began tracking. They each worried for a moment over being seen but it was dark and they picked this town because it was small and quiet with very little going on between 10 pm and 8 am. They started to move through the city. The smell was leading them out of town towards a small neighborhood. They found a small house, with Lacey curtains and no car. The smell was strong here. They slipped around the back and Daniel shifted back to his human shelf. He took a pair of shorts from his wife’s bag and started checking the back door. It was locked but the lock was weak and ineffective. He had the door opened silently in a matter of minutes. He led his mate inside still in her wolf form. The fear of having a giant wolf snarling at you should shake the girls loyalty.
He silently approached the bedroom and eased the door open. She was alone. Asleep. He spoke to his wife through their bond and she leaped onto the bed, straddling the girl and began growling and snapping. Jenna woke with a start but the scream died in her throat when she connected the wolf standing over her with Daniels presence. She was breathing steadily and remaining clam all things considered. She cleared her throat and managed to sound bored when she asked “Is this the grandfather?”
His mate barred her teeth in response. “Oh the grandmother than.” The girl actually laughed and Annie’s wolf growled deeper “ok. Ok. You are the wife of Daniel. The aunt. Are you a good dog?” She was mocking then. She used that voice humans use to speak to animals it was so condescending. Annie actually nipped her making the girl scream. The she-wolf relaxed a little feeling justified.
Daniel finally spoke, “Obviously you helped Dyann. We need to know where she is going. How Is she traveling? We mean neither of you any harm. We plan to take her home.”
“Haven’t you been telling that lie for years?”
“It is no lie. We want to return her and ensure the safety of our child. That is all. Tell me what I need to know.”
“No can do boss-a-roo. I promised, I mean to keep that promise.”
“Then I will have my grief stricken mate bite pieces off your body and eat then in front of you until you tell me what I want to know.”
“Wow that was a lot. Did you think about that long? It sounded rehearsed and I..” Jenna began screaming.
Her sarcastic retort had been cut short by the large wild animal biting her viciously in the arm and shaking her like a rag doll. Jenna began to realize the danger she was in. She had to do something. She had to say something.
“Ok. Ok. Please stop. I’m sorry. I don’t know where she was going. I really don’t I told her to head south East. She is traveling by train..”
Daniel nodded . “Thank you child. You have done well. That was too Easy though so maybe try the truth next.”
He nodded to his wife and she viciously attacked the girls legs. Jenna screamed in brutal pain. There was so much Jenna wanted to ask but they were going to Kill her. She had to give them what they wanted but she could not help them. After an hour of well placed bites Jenna had shared everything she knew. Daniel thanked her for her help. He brought a cloth to help clean her wounds. They were turning to leave when the pair stopped and looked at each other like they were having a secret conversation. To Jennas surprise the female jumped back on the bed, her eyes were bright green with rage. She jumped back on the bed and glanced at Jennas damaged body with disgust. The last thing Jenna ever saw was the open mouth of the shewolf aiming for her neck.
