Chapter 2: First day At College

1769 Words
Mianette’s POV I dash towards my hostel, holding the file tightly near my chest. Thank go all the paper works are over. Everything is arranged. I just have to keep the file in the hostel and then I’ll be heading towards the class. Hopefully, I will not be late. The file has all my documents, including my mark sheets, id proof, scholarship information, and everything. That’s the reason I don’t want to carry it around. The campus is vast. There are several playgrounds, separate buildings, and everything. And the entire campus is surrounded by the woods. That mysterious lines of evergreens! The girls’ hostel is at one edge of the campus, just by the forest. The location is beautiful. I look around with a smile on my face. I am really liking this weather here. The bus driver was right. There is something in the wind. They do whispers. You can feel them, you can sense them. While thinking all these, I cross the main playground. Now I am walking near the woods. Just a few more steps and I’ll be out of the college grounds in front of my new home. But before I can pass the college grounds, someone bumped into me, rather I shall say, pushed me harshly. I almost fall to the ground. I lose my grip over the file and all my documents start to fly in the air. God! My eyes fall on the intruder. I am facing his back. A black t-shirt is hugging his lean muscles. His messy black hair shines like silk. He is rushing towards the woods. His back feels familiar like I know him for ages. There is a strange attraction in the air like I can feel the air that is touching his skin and then brushing mine. I have never felt this way!  “Hey, watch out!” I yell. His legs stop for a moment as he moves his head a little. I still can’t see his face. I thought he will come and help me gather all these documents; I thought he will apologize. But he clearly ignores all the mess he has just caused me and walks away in a hurry. Who the hell is he? “You moron!” I shout again. i***t! What a brilliant start to my new life. I ignore his arrogance and start to gather my documents, cursing him inwardly. If I ever meet him again, he will regret it. Bloody i***t! Suddenly an eight hundred pounds Harley Davidson stopped near to where I am. WOW! That is something. I love motorcycles. But the rider looks so thin and tiny for the huge ride. Who that can be? The rider gets down and takes off her helmet! YES, HER! I can hardly believe a lean girl like her can ride that giant. It should be ten times more than what she weighs. I’m not judging her, it’s just hard to digest. A pair of comfortable sweatpants and an oversized hoodie were hanging on her lean frame. She takes off her helmet and shouts, looking towards the moron who just left after creating this mess, “What the f**k, dude? Uncivilized moron! Bloody hell!” Wow! She got some mouth. Her short brown hair was in a mess. But she hardly cared about it. Then she looks at me with a smile, “Hey, are you okay? I saw what just happened.” “Yes, I’m fine. He is so arrogant!” I reply. She bents down and helps me with the documents, “here.” “God knows who he was! Never seen his before,” she informs, looking towards the woods. That guy has disappeared in between the tall evergreens. She is really helpful. “Thank you,” I thank her with a smile, dragging her attention. “No problem, dude. By the way, Sam here,” she introduces herself, returning me the gesture. “Mianette,” I speak, extending my hand for a handshake. “So, new in town, huh?” Sam asks again. “Yeah! How do you know?” I exclaim. “It’s still fall, babe, and you are wearing a jacket. Look at us, man!” Sam laughed again. Come on! It’s chilly and I can’t possibly catch a cold. Who will take care of me? “Shut up, okay. It’s cold.” I protest with fake anger. Sam starts to laugh at my reaction. I like her. “Okay, miss drama queen! Let’s go else we will be late for our orientation.” Sam reminds me. “Give me just five, okay? I’ll just put this file in my room.” I reply and rush towards the dorm. I come back after putting my documents inside the locker. Sam is still waiting for me. She wears her helmet as her eyes fall on me. “Come on, hop on!” She suggests. What! I’ll be going on her motorcycle! Well, I’ve seen her riding it, even so, I really don’t have the courage to sit on that. “Sam… Are you sure? You know it's not that far… How about I walk?” I try to reason. “Just shut up and sit.” Sam orders. “Well… I think…“ I try to refuse again, but Sam stops me. “Shut up, you dumbo! Sam Williams is the only one who owns this baby in this entire town. So zip up and sit.” She shouts. “Okay, okay…” I follow what she says. Oh god. Please! I really don’t want to die. I scream as she suddenly speeds up, “aah! SAAAM!” She laughs again, “Mia, you are so stupid!” and with that, she parks her Baby. She just called me Mia! A nickname? That’s new for me! I get down as I ask her, “did you just call me Mia?” “Duh!” She starts with a funny tone while walking inside the campus, “Don’t tell me you don’t like it. Because I’m not gonna call you Mianette blah blah… It’s so difficult. Sounds like you are a princess from Martinez's family.” Sam stops abruptly and turns over, “you are not, right?” I giggle at her words. She is hilarious. “No, I’m not. I don’t know any Martinez.” I reply. “You’ll. Soon. Prince Jackson Miller Martinez the third!” Sam chuckles as she speaks. “What! Who?” I query with a smile. She must be joking. In between our chitchats, an overly dressed red-haired girl rushes towards us and drags Sam holding her arm, “Sam! Sam! Please save me!” She looks towards the building once and then whispers, “That blondie witch is coming this way.” Blonde witch! I giggle, looking at her expression. “Nugget! Get off me.” Sam shakes her off. “And what the hell are you wearing?” Sam remarks in surprise, touching the feathers of her hair clip. That is entertaining. “Don’t touch it.” That girl named nugget replies, brushing Sam’s hand. She continues dramatically, “This is call fashion sense, Sam.” “Wearing the bird's feathers? Really?” Sam bursts into laughter. “Shut up! Look who’s talking. This is our first day here, you i***t!” Nugget replies. “Anyway, Nugget, meet Mia. Mia, Nugget!” Sam introduces us, pointing her finger back and forth towards Nugget and me. Nugget! What an unusual name. “Shut up, Sam,” Nugget shouts again, “Hi Mia, I’m Emily” So that’s what her name is. Sam must have given her that funny nickname. “Hi, Nugget… I mean Emily,” I stumble. Stupid girl! “That’s okay, Mia. No one knows who Emily is!” Sam replies, making a funny face. I really start liking this place. The people here are friendly. Look at Sam and Nugget. I smile inwardly. They are still fighting on stupid things. “Well, well! Look who’s here? The idiots of the first year.” A high pitch voice grabs our attention. I look around only to find a blondie wearing six inches of high heels. Her hair is neatly done. The red off-shoulder crop is hugging her curves perfectly, exposing her clear, smooth skin around her belly. Her skirt is stopping on her mid-thigh. “I guess you already know who I am.” She announces again, looking towards her minions once. “Of course, they know you, babe!” One of them replies. Then they exchange their glances once and start together making a piece of music, “B for beauty, B for Brave, B for Bliss, and B for Beverly.” “Oh, stop it, guys,” Beverly replies with her fake smile. Her gaze falls on us again, “so where were we? Oh yeah, with that overdressed nugget and the pet monkey of Williams. And… ew! What the hell are you wearing? Is that from a thrift store or something?” She points out my top. I look down once. I’m just an orphan. Where else can I go? I have lived all my life in charity. She must be a princess from some rich family who will never understand my condition. I keep silent. “And the old slut who couldn’t graduate this year. You know what Mia, this bimbo used to be in the same class as my sister, Ivy. Ivy graduated from the same college this year, whereas this madam is still in the second year!” Sam snaps her back harshly. Wait, what? “What did you say?” Beverly shouts while Nugget giggles. I try to hold back my laughter as well. Never have expected that coming! It feels like Sam is doing this on purpose, on my behalf, to get back to her. “Listen, you B for Bimbo, we don’t time for all these shits. So, f**k off.” Sam yells in her face this time, with a serious voice. Well done, Sam. I’m really going to love this girl.
