Golden Hour

Third Person POV

After the little pow wow session in the conference room, Everyone went to eat a snack since it was now about 3 in the afternoon. Emma and Lucas had 4 hours to get ready. She also have to give a tour to Liv and give her the codes to her house. Emma wanted to make sure that everything was good and stayed status quo. She wanted to make sure that she contacted the manager at the cafe to make sure everything will be fine and told them she will out for about a month. She wanted a little break to be able to spend time with her mate.

Emma and Liv left to go to Emma’s house. The plan was that they were going to go around the house and then Liv was going to help Emma get ready. They are riding in the car catching up and finally get to her house. They sit in the living room for a bit first and continue talking. They continue going around the house and getting the tour.

After the tour, Emma jumped into the shower to start getting ready. She had 2 hours to go. Emma and Liv selected the outfit that Emma was going to wear. She felt giddy and excited. The dress that she was going to wear tonight is a red halter dress that flows at the bottom but it is only knee length. She is wearing her converse because she is not a heel girl.

She felt so lucky to be given such a wonderful mate. She does not know if it is the mate bond but after getting to know each other basically all day yesterday she was swooning and head over heels in love with him. How is that even possible?

At the packhouse, Lucas is also smiling like a love sick puppy. Everyone can see he is happy. He had his mother and beta help him set up for the date. He had something very special in mind planned for them.He is not planning to take her even though he has wanted to. He knows they have to wait. He puts on a red button down shirt, but leave the top button undone. He wears his red and black Jordans with dark jeans.

For some reason, the bond feels so strong. He asked his parents if their bond felt this way. It’s like a constant connection that won’t stop. He has not even marked her yet, but he feels her emotions, and sometimes her thoughts filter through. The tingles and sparks are intense. Every feeling that you have with the mate bond only in his case it feels intensified.

He also told his parents that the moon goddess said that their bond is stronger than normal and maybe he will get the answers he needs when he goes to her again after the mating. His parents told him that they know that his bond is stronger, but don’t know why. He said that everyone could feel like. He said it was like an outpouring of love aura that they were giving out and it was strong.

It is the time to go pick up his mate. He gets into his car and starts driving towards her house. He can’t wait to see her. He picked up her favorite flowers which he remembered from the previous day. She loves Lilies. He then rings the doorbell.

Liv comes and opens the door for Lucas. He knows the code but he wants to do things right. Liv lets him in and when he looks up, he sees Emma coming down the staircase. She took his breathe away, but he took hers as well. They are both looking at each other like long lost lovers. Liv can’t help but smile. She is glad to see two of her closest friends happy.

They finally are in front of each other. Lucas brings up his hands to her face and caresses her.

“You look stunning” Lucas says

“Thank you, you don’t look so bad yourself.” She says and gets on her tip toes to give him a quick kiss.

Emma takes the flowers from him and ask Liv to please put them in a vase in the kitchen before she leaves. Liv nods and tells then to have a great night.

Lucas and Emma walk out to the car and he opens the door for her. He is such a gentleman. Once he gets in the car starts driving and they make small talk on the way to their date.

Emma really wanted to know what they were going to do, but Lucas just kept saying it is a surprise. He is excited to see her reaction. He made sure to get her favorite meal and desert.

When the car stop they were in the middle of the woods. Emma was confused and was thinking that this is how people die. Then she laughed at her thoughts. She can be real dark sometimes. Maybe it has to do with everything she has gone through.

“We will walk from here, it will take us about 5 minutes to get there, We just can’t drive the car there.” Lucas says

“Can I carry you?” He asked. Weird request, but because she had no idea where they are going, she would rather he carry her so she doesn’t trip and fall or something and damage her outfit. I think I look so good. She thinks to herself.

“Sure” Emma responds. Just like that she was being carried while he kept saying how much he missed her for the short time that they were away from each other. She laughed because she missed him too. They both started laughing after that.

The moment they got to the location, Emma was not only shocked but amazed with what she was seeing. They were in the clearing by the lake they met at. He had a table set up for two with covered dishes on a food cart. There were fairy lights everywhere, giving a yellow romantic glow. The moon was starting to show and it was beautiful how it reflected off the lake.

“Lucas, this is amazing. Thank you. No one has ever done anything like this for me.” Emma says while her eyes are tearing of happiness.

“Emma, you are my queen. You will be treated like this as long we I live. I know this feels soon, but I love you. I feel such a strong connection to you. I don’t know if it the same for you, but everything feels magnified. Even though I have not marked you yet, I feel your emotions and can hear some of your thoughts. I don’t expect you to say anything back. I just wanted you to know how I feel. I believe that honesty, mutual respect, unconditional love, and transparency is really important in a relationship. I saw it with my parents. They never hid anything from each other and were stronger for it.” Lucas says

Emma looks at Lucas and smiles. She did not want to say anything but when he said that she just could help herself. “Lucas, I love you too. I feel the same way. My parents were just like that. I want what they have. I also have been feeling the same from the mate bond. My mother did say that our bond will be stronger than normal. I know we will find out more while we are with her.”

Lucas felt his heart skip a bit. She loves him. He is so happy he can’t keep the smile of his face. He walks her over to the table and then takes 2 plates and places them on the table and removes the cover. Emma is surprised that he remembered her favorite things. He was really listening to her last night. She had Carbonara. She loves it. It’s one of her favorite meals.

They talk while they have dinner. They talk about the goals for the pack, and their hopes and dreams. Lucas has a speaker and has music going. It was a very romantic setting. Lucas takes out the dessert and it is her favorite white chocolate macadamia nut cheesecake. She squealed in happiness.

After their dessert, Lucas asked her to dance. He goes over to the phone and changes the song.

“The whole day as I was thing about you, I kept hearing this song. It just made me thing of you. Honestly, I was in a very dark place before I found you. I thought I was never going to have a mate or a family because, I thought I lost my chance. You thought, came into my life and all of the sudden there is light again. It’s light you are the lighthouse guiding me back.”

He plays the song and we start dancing. He starts singing the words to the song. The more I listen the more tears fall from my cheek. I have never felt so safe, loved, secured, or protected. She felt complete.

The song was so beautiful. Emma listens to the words carefully and she realizes, that after such a hard life, it is finally her golden hour.
