INT. AKOMOLAFE'S RESIDENCE - AFTERNOON
The preacher opens the plain envelope beside the dining table. Oreoluwa watches, eyes tired, barely standing straight.
She pulls out the photo, staring silently. Her face tuns into a mask of pain.
OREOLUWA
(Wincing)
Mummy...
PREACHER
Oreoluwa. Have you lost your senses? Look at this. Look at what you've given to the world.
Your body, your dignity, handed to a criminal.
OREOLUWA
I was so foolish—I'm sorry.
PREACHER
(Raises voice)
Sorry won't erase this. sorry won't stop the devil from laughing.
You acted without a single thought for consequences.
She gathers the photos, hands shaking. Goes to sit on a cushion. Eyes closed. Praying under the breath of her nose.
Oreoluwa staggers closer. Sits on the tiles, back against a cushion.
PREACHER
(Softly)
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil.
She glances at a traumatized Ore.
PREACHER(CONT'D)
Come here! Come and sit
Oreoluwa rises. Takes a sit beside her mom.
PREACHER(CONT'D)
We will handle this. Not with fear but with faith. We will pray and you will learn from this. Because our God is a redeemer.
Oreoluwa nods weakly.
Moms pulls her daughter into a tight embrace. Her own tears finally falling.
PREACHER
You are still my child and because God is still on the throne, it shall be well. You will not be ridiculed. You will not be broken.
She releases her. Dries her face.
PREACHER(CONT'D
But never this careless again.
OREOLUWA
Yes mommy.
The preacher stands. Straightens her blazzer.
PREACHER
How are you still communicating with the hacker?
OREOLUWA
He still has access to Chidi's w******p.
PREACHER
Where's your phone?
OREOLUWA
It's charging in my room
PREACHER
Go and get it.
Oreoluwa proceeds to her room.
CUT TO
INT. AKOMOLAFE'S RESIDENCE - MORNING
The preacher sits at the dining table, Oreoluwa, moody beside her. Mom has her phone in hand. Casually dressed. A jean, a top and head scarf.
WHATSAPP CHAT OPENS: CONVERSATION WITH SAMEDAYBOBBY VIA CHIDI'S ACCOUNT
PREACHER
This is Oreoluwa's mother. You will now deal with me.
Samedaybobby smiles diabolically on his end. Wearing a singlet on a three quarter in a dark bed room.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
????? Wheres Ore? Tell her to message me herself.
PREACHER
My daughter is broken because of you. She paid you once after manipulating her. Now you're back because you think she's soft.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
Emergency came up. I need 1.2m more. Then I delete everything.
PREACHER
The young lady should be packing for school. UNILAG resumes next week. Your "emergency" has caused us pains. She hasn't slept for days. she's trembling at this table.
Bobby rolls his eyes dismissively.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
I don't want trouble. Just the money.
PREACHER
You already caused trouble. But listen—I will pay this once. But if you ever contact her again, if you even think of her face.
I promise you God will not be kind to you, neither will the law.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
There's no need for threats. Just get me the bread. No more after this. My word.
PREACHER
I will pay, not because you deserve it, but because I want my daughter's peace.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
Good. Me it fast
He lights up a wrap.
PREACHER
I'll do the transfer now.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
No transfers. I need cash. Bring it to the warehouse after CASH N CARRY, Mabushi. Back gate. Section E.
PREACHER
Why? A transfer is safer for everyone.
Her screen shows Bobby typing...stop...typing
OREOLUWA
(Curious)
What's he saying?
PREACHER
He's being careful. Thinks we might trace him
SAMEDAYBOBBY
Safer for you. Banks have records. CCTV. I'm not ending up in jail.
PREACHER
Fine. I will bring the cash myself.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
No. Oreoluwa must be there. I need to see her.
PREACHER
Why? To frighten her more? The money is the same.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
(On his feet, frowns)
If she doesn't come, I'll assume she's nearby with the police. And the photos goes online. She delivered it the last time. That's the pattern.
Mom stares at Oreoluwa's tear streaked face.
Takes a deep breath.
PREACHER
You will not speak to her. You will not look at her longer than is necessary. You take the money and you disappear.
SAMEDAYBOBBY
Deal.
PREACHER
We will be there in forty minutes. And remember what I said. If you come for my child again, heaven will not save you.
Chat ends.
She puts the phone down, places her palm on Oreoluwa's cheek.
OREOLUWA
Mummy, I'm scared.
PREACHER
I will be right beside you. And after today, we rebuild.
Bobby places a call wit another phone.
RECEIVER
(Distorted voice)
Hello!
SAMEDAYBOBBY
Good morning sir. The primary target is now involved.
RECEIVER
Good job. You know what to do
Call drops.
Samedaybobby dashes out the room.
CUT TO
EXT. WARE HOUSE - MORNING
Pastor Mrs Akomolafe parks her car around the ware house. Close to the back gate. Oreoluwa is at the passenger's seat. They stare at the facility for a while.
The preacher reaches for the glove compartment, brings out a pepper spray. she gives Oreoluwa the direction of use.
PREACHER
(Voice low, steady)
Here's the Button. Short bursts. Aim for the eyes and nose, then run.
Ore nods. Swallowing hard as she hides it in her jacket.
They exit the vehicle. Walks towards the gate into the empty premises. They open the metal door.
The air is thick with dust and silence. Stacks of wooden crates and industrial materials form a terrace.
Metal containers and machinery choke the industrial space as light filters through the high windows.
The only paths are narrow with artificial walls. Pastor Gloria is anxious but still composed, holding her daughter's hand who is scared but tries to appear brave, clutching the side of her pocket where the pepper spray is.
Mom holds the sack containing 1.2million naira. They move on steadily locating section E. Once there, they saw a rusted sign above marked with a faded letter E.
Moving around the section, they heard a deliberate tap on a metal. They spin around quickly. There stands a 6"1 jerry, few yards away, blocking the path they came from, mask on, dark clothes, motionless.
The silence stretches. Then he gestures at the sack of money to be brought over. The preacher begins to move towards him but he raises a hand—STOP. Points to Oreoluwa definitively.
The preacher's jaw tightens. A silent war in her eyes. Reluctantly she hands the sack over.
PREACHER
Take it to him, slowly.
Ore takes the sack. She walks forward measuring each step. A masked jerry watches, still as a statue.
Once at a few meters to Jerry's position. She heard her mom's voice.
PREACHER
Okay honey. That's enough. Throw it.
Ore stops, throws the sack. He catches it. As she turns to head back, moses, masked up, appears from an elevation, right above.
He pushes a column of heavy carton. CRASH! Which comes down with a thunderous BOOM, sending up a cloud of dust.
A barricade of boxes now forms between mother and daughter. In two quick strides, jerry grabs Ore's arm and starts to drag her towards an exit.
OREOLUWA
Let me go! Mom.
PREACHER
(Tries to claw her way through the boxes)
Ore! NO! Oreoluwa.
Ore struggles but he's too strong for her, dragging her through the dark corridor. Pastor mrs tries to climb over but not as easy.
PREACHER
(Desperate, screams)
I'm coming Ore. Fight!
Ore remembers the weapon in her jacket. She low key reaches for the pepper spray admist the struggle. As the culprit yanks her around a corner, she twists and aims blindly at his face.
HISSS!
He yells—a raw sound of shock and pain. His grip loosens. Ore gains freedom. Sprinting into a maze of crates.
The preacher on her end becomes frantic. Searches for another route, expressing worry while trying to keep balance.
Jerry still masked up tends to his eyes through the mask hole. His hostage is gone. He groans, ignoring his pain for some seconds as he begins the search.
Moments later, mother and daughter collide at a junction, they cling to each other for a second. Out of breath.
PREACHER
Are you hurt?
OREOLUWA
No. I sprayed him.
They hear a low pained groan echoing through the warehouse. While they figure out what to do, an undisputable sound of angry footstep rises.
Then another heavy series coming closer. The preacher's eyes flick around. She spots an empty 25liter keg. Grabs it.
PREACHER
Here, stay behind me.
They flatten themselves against crates placed in an entry way. Seconds later, the masked man appears, rubbing his eyes.
THUD!
Pastor Akomolafe swings the keg in a wide arc. It connects solidly, sending jerry to the floor.
PREACHER
(Sharp whisper)
Go! That way!
She pushes Ore towards the direction they came from. As the preacher turns to follow, a hand shoots up from the floor and seizes her ankle.
PREACHER
Argh!
She falls hard.
In an Instant, Jerry gets on top of her, pinning her with his weight while his hands goes for her throat.
They go at it for while.
Oreoluwa, seen it all from a few feet away, freezes. Then determination hardens her face. She pulls out the pepper spray again.
Runs towards the struggling pair, leans in closer to the criminal, presses the button. This time around, holding it down
HISSSSSSSSS!
Jerry screams aloud, releasing Mrs Akomolafe's throat to claw at his own face. Wipes furiously but quickly holds her wrist.
Suddenly her eyes stay focus, her breathing becomes normal and she barely struggles. she had become someone else.
With a sharp, skillful motion, she grabs his gripping hand, directs it first before twisting it backwards at a brutal angle.
JERRY
(Gut scream)
Arrrrgh!
The preacher frees one of her knees, plants a powerful heel kick to is torso, rolling him off her.
They both scramble to their feet.
Jerry is staggering, blind, swiping at the air.
The preacher stands protectively in front of Oreoluwa.
They watch him. Then, she charges. Full weight, ramming her shoulders into his chest, sending him backwards into a pile of pipes.
CLANG! CRASH!
He disappears into the collapsing pile with a final groan.
The Pastor spots her phone on the floor. Next to it, Jerry's face towel. She snatches both, thinking the towel is her scarf.
PREACHER
Come on!
Mom grabs her daughter's hand. They ran without looking back. Feet pounding on the concrete towards a sliver of Daylight—the way they came in.
FADE OUT
