Clarissa’s POV
I shot him a glare. He shrugged.
Turning back to Maya, I forced a steady breath. “Thank you. Really. I’ll be out in five minutes.”
She nodded and disappeared down the hall.
The door clicked shut, and I leaned my back against it, exhaling shakily. “I can’t believe I forgot. Reed’s been at the hospital all day, and his wife just got out of surgery. He’s probably exhausted, and I promised—”
“Reed should be in Room 418,” Dante said beside me, his steps long and purposeful.
But when we pushed open the door, the room was empty. The bed was neatly made. No Reed, Nor his wife. No sign anyone had been here recently.
A cold shiver rolled down my spine.
“This… this can’t be right,” I whispered, backing toward the hallway. “He told us he’d wait. He promised to stay.”
