The rest of the week went by uneventful, just the way I liked it. Jeremey and I unpacked most of the boxes during the week to make things liveable around here.
Dad and Jeremey were hanging photos up and I laughed, listening to them bicker about where what should be. They both were happy to spend time together, and I was happy about that too. I was always leaving the house when they needed time together.
I grabbed my car keys "I'm going to the shop, need anything?" I yelled from the door and they both answered, "no!" I giggled as I left.
The grocery store wasn't as big as I'm used to, but it was decent. I grabbed a basket and walked around and dumped a few things in the basket we needed. While I was standing in the checkout line, two people stood behind me.
I felt nervous as they kept staring at me. I don't think I look that strange. Looking down at myself, I frowned.
I wore jean shorts, converse shoes, and a t-shirt. Nothing strange, I thought, and tried to ignore them. They were good looking, they both had brown hair, but different in shade. The guy had blue eyes, and the girl had brown.
I finally got out of there and walked to the car. "Hey, wait!" Someone called from behind me and I turned around. It was the girl that stood behind me with her friend. I smiled at her politely and waited for her to catch up to me. Remembering what Dad said about me trying to make friends.
"Sorry about the staring, but you're new here, right?" She asked sweetly. I nodded at her and she smiled. Shoving her hand towards me, "I'm Zoe," she smiled brightly.
I shook her hand, "I'm Genevieve."
The guy came out of the store and ran over to us, "Nice, leave me there alone, would you!" He scolded at her.
She hugged him and smiled, "But you still love me."
He rolled his eyes at her.
"Oh, this is Genevieve." She pointed towards me, "and this is Kevin." She pointed at him and he hugged me.
I yelped in surprise and he just tightened his hold around him, "Nice to meet you, Gen."
"Hi," I mumbled as he let go of me. They smiled, and I got a bit worried, "what?" I asked them and they looked at each other and then at me. Okay, they were strange.
"You are going to grab lunch with us." Kevin pointed at me and I nodded at them.

They took me to a little dinner called Billy's, and it was cozy.
We sat in a booth at the back and could see everyone in the dinner.
"This is cute," I said as I looked around.
Zoe smiled "yeah, we come here a lot to look at the man candy," she grinned.
Kevin shot her a look "You," he pointed at her "come for the man candy, I" he pointed at himself. "I come here for the shakes," he shook his head, and they chuckled.
The waiter showed up at our table, "the usual?" She smiled, and they nodded. She looked at me and waited.
"Um, surprise me?" I smiled, and she nodded and walked away.
"Living life on the wild side, I like you." Kevin sounded impressed.
I laughed, "She never brought a menu for me to look at, and seeing you guys like this place," I shrugged with a smile.
"So, where are you from?" Zoe propped her chin on her fist and smiled.
"From Santa Monica." I sat with my hands in my lap and frowned at the table.
Kevin shrieked, "Really? Then why here?" He asked with a frown.
I smiled "My dad got a position at the hospital and my brother one at the school." I said the last part softly.
Their eyes almost popped out, "your brother is the new PE teacher?" Zoe gasped, and I nodded.
"Wow, so you're going to be a big deal then?" Kevin asked with a grin.
"Oh, no! No one should know that he's my brother. Especially girls." I covered my mouth in disbelief that I just said that.
Zoe leaned forward, "Is he hot?"
"What, I don't know! He's my brother." I laughed.
Jeremy and I both have the same caramel brown hair and blue eyes. He had an athletic built, and I had my mom's curves, although she had a little more in other places, Jeremey and Dad kept telling me I'm like her mini-me. I only saw her in photos and videos, so it was hard for me to see what they saw.
Zoe apologized, and Kevin almost fell out of the booth with laughter.
I waved her off. "He's good looking from what I heard other girls say. They liked to make him the principal topic in the locker rooms." I rolled my eyes.
"Tell me you're going to Mountain ridge High?" Kevin sounded excited and when I nodded, he jumped with glee and Zoe joined in.
Looks like I made friends. I smiled at that thought as I never really had friends in Santa Monica; I joined study and reading groups, but not anything like this.
The doors chimed as they opened and Zoe's eyes widened, and she had a devilish grin on her face, "the best man candy just walked in," she clapped her hands together and Kevin rolled his eyes and sighed.
The waiter showed up with our drinks and she handed me a chocolate shake, the same as Kevin and Zoe, I smiled and thanked her. She nodded at me and turned around. "Oh, hey Donovan," she said sweetly, and my head flung in their direction.
Donovan greeted her and walked up to our booth and sat down next to me.
"Hello Genevieve," he smiled at me and then at the two from across us. "Kevin, Zoe" he greeted them, and they just stared at him. "I see that you made friends?" He nudged my shoulder and winked.
I rolled my eyes and knew Jeremy told him how unsocial I was. "Yep," I said and took a sip from my shake and oh my lord it was amazing! A little moan escaped from me.
Donovan chuckled. "they're good, aren't they?" he smiled.
"Yeah!" I blushed and kept my eyes on the shake.
"Where's your entourage?" Kevin asked Donovan and took a sip from his shake.
Donovan laughed. "They have plans," he said nonchalantly, and took a sip from my shake. My brows shot up, and I gaped at him.
"Um, that's mine." I pointed to the shake, and he frowned at it and then at me.
"They taste better if it's not your own," he grinned at me.
"Well, now it's yours, buddy," I said as I crossed my arms and sat back in the booth.
"Oh, brighten up Gennybean," he smiled and took another sip.
I poked him with my finger on his shoulder, "It's Genevieve, not Gennybean!"
Zoe squealed. "It's so cute though,"
I gaped at her, "no, it's horrible!" I said and shook my head.
Donovan seemed proud of himself for making me uncomfortable, and I hated it. He ordered a new shake for me and extra ones for the rest of them.
We all sat and talked for hours; it was nice when Donovan didn't say something to get under my skin.

I went home and helped Jeremey in the kitchen with the last few boxes.
"So, I made some friends today," I smiled,
"You what?" He sounded shocked. I gave her a small smile.
"I made friends," I repeated
"I'm so proud of you, Genny!" He hugged me and I laughed.
"Jer, it's not a big deal," I said as he squeezed all the air out of me.
"Oh, yes, it is." He chuckled, and then I told him about Zoe and Kevin.
