Zoey’s breathing came in ragged rasps, one hand pressing against her abdomen as she scrambled backwards.
“Let’s end this,” the man standing in front of her said. He held the injection tighter, brown eyes glistening under the overhead light. “Even if you scream, no one will hear you. No one will come to your aid.”
