Chapter 13

1695 Words
-Samantha's POV ''What do you think of this?'' Millie asks and I look up.  After the hike we went to Millie's house, where I was introduced to her parents and her little brothers. Millie's father had a restaurant in town and he invited me to come eat there and he also insisted that I stayed for dinner. Since Millie won our little race, she got to decide what we were going to do tonight. Her cousin Liam was having a party for his birthday and Millie really wanted to go, but she was nervous. A lot of the kids from school were coming to the party, kids like Trisha and Kim. So I understood why Millie was nervous and I told her we could just check the party out and bail as soon if we wanted. But before we could go to the party, Millie had to decide on what to wear. She already shown me three options that were perfectly fine and she just rejected option number four. ''Millie, new plan! I will pick something out for you to wear and you can explain to me why you are making such a big deal out of this party.'' I walk to the closet and I gently push Millie in the direction of her bed. Then I turn my attention to her clothes and my gaze falls on a red shirt. I pair it with black jeans and black sneakers. Casual, but still sexy because of the red shirt. ''I'm good in small groups, but I feel insecure and invisible in big crowds. So I thought if I felt good in what I was wearing, then I wouldn't be so awkward and tense.'' ''Well, tonight you are going to look good and we are going to have fun. So get dressed and do you have a flatiron?'' ''I do and what are you going to wear?'' Millie asks as she hands me the flatiron. I plug it in and I look at the clothes that I'm wearing. One of Tyler shirts, since my drawer got stuck again. Skinny jeans and biker boots. Millie walks back to her closet and she pull out something blue. ''It's off the shoulder, but it has straps and it will look amazing on you! So please say that you will try it on.'' ''Right back at you.'' I hand Millie the clothes that I picked out for her and she gives me the blue shirt. It takes me a few seconds to change and I look in the mirror. Perfect for a night out! Millie comes out of the bathroom and I whistle. ''Damn girl, you look good in red!'' Millie's cheeks turn red and I chuckle, before I gesture for her to take a seat. I quickly straighten her hair until it's sleek and shiny. Millie's raven black hair is gorgeous and she looks so confident now. A nude lipstick and she is ready. There is a knock on the door and Millie's mom pops her head in. ''You girls look stunning! Millie, a quick word. First wish Liam a happy birthday from us. I tried to call, but then I forgot. You know me and my head. Second be home before midnight and the last one is for the both of you. Don't take drinks from strangers, stay together and if anything is wrong.' ''Then we will call you or dad,'' Millie says with a sigh. ''We will be careful, mom. We are just going to the party and wish Liam a happy birthday. We hang out and if we don't want to stay, we go. Right, Sam?'' ''Right, we will be careful Mrs. Dumont. I already wrote my number down so you or Mr. Dumont can reach me.'' I give the note to Mrs. Dumont and she smiles at me. ''You are such a polite and caring young lady, Samantha. I'm so glad that you and Millie are friends! I hope we see you around a lot, dear! Have fun at the party, girls!'' I smile and Mrs. Dumont closes the door. ''You are like a straight up parent whisperer, Sam. My parents are going to be gushing about you for days!'' ''Well, I get the part about being worried. I always worry about my sister Emma, even when I know she is fine. Take today for instance. I called her to say that I wasn't going to be there for dinner or to bring her to bed and guess what?'' ''What?'' ''My four year old sister couldn't care less! She was playing a game with the family and then my uncle wanted to speak with me. He basically said the same thing as your mom and then I had to make him a promise.'' ''What did you have to promise? Like don't drink and don't talk to strangers? ''No,'' I smirk. ''I had to promise to not to call and check in on Emma. They would call or text me if anything was wrong, so I could just relax and have fun.'' Millie chuckles and she grabs her phone. ''Ready?'' ********************************************************************************************** -Samantha's POV The party is already in full force when we get there. The music is loud, people are drinking and dancing. Millie introduces me to her cousin Liam, the birthday boy. Liam shows us where we can get our drinks before he is pulled away. Millie makes herself a mix of rum and Coke, but I just grab a bottle of water. I need to stay clear in my head, because this party is a huge trigger for me.The last time I went to a party, I woke up in the hospital. I know things are different now and that I'm here with a friend, but I still don't trust myself.''Now what?'' Millie asks as she looks around. People are looking at her and I smile. Millie has no idea how hot she looks tonight and she feels good about herself. She looks confident and then we see them, Trisha and Kim. ''Now we walk around, we talk to people and we dance.'' ''I don't dance!'' Millie hisses at me. ''I won the last race, so I say you have to dance tonight. But only when you are relaxed, so let's just walk around a little bit''. Millie nods and we first go to the living room and that feels like mistake number one. ''Samantha, babe!'' I groan as Kyle puts his arm around my shoulders. Stay calm and don't kill him. Stay calm and don't kill him. ''Hello, Kyle.'' ''Why are you drinking water, babe? There are so many choices, I can make you my special mix if you want.'' ''No, thank you.'' ''Have I told you already that you look smoking hot?'' Kyle twirls me around and he smiles at me, when he sees how annoyed I am. ''You can try to keep hating me, babe. I won't work, you already like me. You just don't wan't to admit to yourself, but don't worry. I'm a very patient man.'' ''Of course you are, with Kim as a back up. Bye, Kyle.'' I grab Millie's hand and we walk to another room. Millie introduces me to some of her teammates and we actually have a nice time. A mix of the song Despacito begins and Isabella pushes me in the direction of the living room. ''We are dancing!'' Isabella yells in my ear. I roll my eyes at her, but Isabella doesn't care. She starts dancing and she gestures me to join her. We dance, we laugh and I actually relax. I see Millie talking to some of her teammates and I grab her hand. ''You're up!'' ''I told you I don't dance!'' ''You don't want to, but you can dance! Look at her moves, Isabella!'' ''Yes, Millie!'' Isabella cheers and she joins us. The music is changing to something more sensual and Millie makes a break for it, saying that she is getting us some drinks. It's just me and Isabella again. The girl really loves to dance and so do I. It has been a long time since I danced just for fun. ''I need to check on Millie and I have to go to the bathroom!'' I yell in Isabella's ear, since the music is so load. ''The bathroom is upstairs and I think Millie is in the kitchen with the others.'' I nod and I walk to the kitchen. Millie is talking to a boy and it looks like she is enjoying herself. That's good and now I really do have to find that bathroom! I start to make my way upstairs until someone blocks my way. Mistake number two is looking at me. ''So my first impression of you was right. You really just are a little slut! Going from guy to guy, dancing with that w***e Bella. Is that your way of finding a new target?'' ''Trisha, always a pleasure.'' I try to walk pass her, but she doesn't let me. ''Trisha, I'm warning you.'' ''And I'm so scared now! Let me give you a warning of my own, you little slut. Don't get to comfortable around here. You don't belong here and you never will. The others might not see you for who you really are, but I do. You are a just a pathetic attention seeking w***e, that needs to go home now and change!'' I look at Trisha confused by her last words, but then she pours her drink over me and she walks pass me with a huge smile on her face. Don't kill the b***h, Samantha. Don't kill the b***h. I finally reach the bathroom and I lock the door. I was glad that Millie was enjoying herself, but for me the party was over. What was I even doing at a party? I keep making mistake after mistake, but tonight that will end and I grab my phone. 'I need a break from dating. I need to focus on Emma and my studies. I hope we can stay friends or at least be civil for Tyler's sake.' I press on send and I turn my phone off. ''I'm sorry, Alexander.''
