Three

"They're attacking from the west side", one of the warriors informed through the mind link. "Head to the west", I shouted at the warriors. They immediately followed my command and headed to the west. "All the female, protect the elders and kid, some of you have to protect the pack territory, remaining should join me for the war", I linked all the female and then made my way towards, what I can already tell is a bloodbath from the broken links. I pushed passed the horrible sight of the shredded body of some warriors. The Rogue Alpha and his minions are known to be the best warriors. Their strength is unmatchable and I can only pray my pack can survive this attack, though chances are slim. None have survived their attack till now, and this pack is not as strong as some of the packs they have attacked. What's more astonishing is that they don't have any special ability but their techniques are so precise they manage to take down the whole pack without sweating. So, I do not doubt that today is my last day in this world. I threw all the negative thoughts aside and concentrated on the difficult task on my hand, protecting my pack from Rogue Alpha. When I reached to the west side, my eyes widened as took in the scene in front of me. All of the warriors who were on the west side of the territory lay dead, their face difficult to recognise due to all blood on their faces. I whined at my now dead pack members before I took off in the direction where a delicious scent is leading me to. I didn't dwell much on the scent, other than the fact that it belongs to an outsider and probably one of the minions of the rogue Alpha or the rogue Alpha himself. I shudder at the thought. Can a beast like himself have such delicious scent? I don't know and don't want to know. My priority is to save and fight for my pack, not wondering who this scent belongs to. I let out a howl as I neared the scent of five rogues. For a second fear gripped my heart as I saw how fast and cruelly they are killing the pack members one by one, but hardened my heart and joined my warriors in fighting the rogues off. The first one I decided to attack is the rogue Alpha. How did I recognise him? His aura, dark and dangerous, his wolf is the biggest one in the group, he is more skilled than the others. He is fighting one of the male warriors and I decided to help the warrior, I know I can't beat him alone, so I barred my teeth and attacked without remorse. Before I can even scratch a hair, he turned to me and dodged my attack. My fur bristled against his when he dodged my attack. The sparks from his touch threw me off guard before his wolf threw me on the ground, my body landed a few feet away from the force he used to throw me off. I stood up and growled in his direction before I stood in shock when our eyes met, his amber one with my blue ones. "Mate", my wolf howled in happiness, nearly deafening me by her high pitched shriek. This isn't happening now. No way in hell my mate is rogue Alpha. My eyes not once left his, it almost felt like time has stopped completely. Almost. Until I get the remainder where I am and who my mate is when one of his group members threw a dead body of my pack member on me. I cursed inside my head when I fall once again. Is it fall day? I rolled my eyes at my own thoughts before I looked back at the rogue Alpha or should I say, my mate? He is still looking at me but averted his eyes when he too realised where he is. His eyes darkened for a second before he composed himself and let out a howl. All the rouges he came with stopped fighting immediately. I froze, is he sparing my pack members life? I looked at him with hope but my eyes widened in alarm when I saw Beta Issac sneaking up at my mate with a silver knife. I immediately ran towards my mate and with as much force I can muster, I tried to throw him to the side, though I managed to slide him a step aside. As compared to his strength and body mass, I'm proud I managed to even move him that much. I jumped on Beta Issac and growled at him in warning, even though my wolf wants to end his pathetic life for trying to harm our mate. I rolled my eyes at her possessiveness. She wants to protect him as if he needs our protection, he, alone can end the lives of more than half of my pack members. I stood up straight when I heard retreating voices of paws hitting the ground. I turned around in a panic, praying to the moon goddess that I get a last look at my mate, and as if she is listening to my prayers as he turned around. Our eyes met once again for a second before he looked ahead and vanished into the shadows. Beta Issac growled in frustration and I removed my paws from his body. You should've let me killed that mutt, Beta Issac screamed at me through mind link and I growled at him. Go inside before I rip you into pieces, I took a threatening step towards him. He knew better than to disobey me and stormed towards the packhouse. Take the bodies and hand them to the families of the dead members, tomorrow we'll hold their burial ceremony, I ordered through the link. All of the warriors nodded and left with the dead bodies. I watched them carry the dead pack members one by one until only I was left alone. I turned to the direction where he disappeared, my eyes desperately searching for him in the shadows. I know he is there, watching me from the darkness. The heat of his gaze on my fur is proof that he is there. When I failed to spot him I turned around in disappointment and made my way towards the packhouse, feeling his gaze on my back all the way. *** (Maverick's POV) I hid in the shadows as I watched her, my pitch black fur helping me in blending into the shadow. Her wolf looked towards where I stood, trying to search for me. "Beautiful", my wolf commented and I nodded in agreement. She breathtaking in her wolf form and I wonder if she looks as beautiful in her human form. As cheesy as that may sound, she looks like an angel, with her platinum blonde fur and blue eyes. Her eyes, the deepest blue I've ever seen. Even in the dark, I can see how bright her eyes are, just like a diamond. The moonlight reflecting into her eyes gives the illusion that they're shining. I sighed in disappointment when she turned around and left, my eyes watching her like a hawk until she stepped inside, what seems like a packhouse. "I'll come back for you, little mate", I smirked and left the pack lands, and made my way back home. When we'll come back for her. My wolf asked with hope. "Soon", I commented as we made the long journey home. ***
