highway robbers

The roads stretched out before her like a line of flame, slowly beneath the feet of the departing sun. The wind was whipping through her hair; she didn't know where her chains were this sunset, but she knew there was no way back. Whoever stands at a crossroads between what he wants to know and what he fears to be, does not return. The shadows began to stretch across the horizon, passing through empty plains and rugged terrain, until they reached a plateau upon which lay the remains of burnt-out vehicles. She stopped to examine the trace of ancient ash. "What is this... Are these the roads of travelers? Did a war take place here? I doubt it... The destruction is immense." Amidst a profound silence, and the cry of a lone raven, I climbed to the top of a hill overlooking the fiery horizon, where the sun swallowed its last breaths behind the mountains. "I will cross it, even if I burn in its flames." Rose decided to spend the night there, succumbing to the fatigue of the journey. She put on her cloak and leaned against a small rock, then closed her eyes on a sky studded with bright stars. It wasn't a deep sleep, as if she was waiting for something to happen. With the first light of dawn, I awoke to a mysterious, resounding, sharp, like a thunderclap. The sound of the crashing waves… erased her dreams. I heard a faint scream and the sound of running footsteps, so curiosity crept into my eyes, and I approached the edge of the hill to peek. There, three warriors are engaged in a fight against bandits. What is this… It’s a loaded cart… Are they valuable goods? It seems so. The thieves rushed at it like hungry dogs. Rose stood in amazement; it was the first time she had ever seen a real, fierce, and wild fight. But what attracted her even more was that one of the warriors had hair as black as night, and his dance was like a flash of lightning in the storm… His silence amidst the noise captivated her. Suddenly, a loud neigh pierced the sky. "The heart of the mountain… no!" he cried out, confused, revealing her location. The crowd turned to look up the hill. Before she could realize what was happening, one of the thieves approached, holding a dagger, his gaze almost swallowing her up. Rose smiled strangely: "I'm sorry for the inconvenience... please continue what you were doing." The fighting stopped for a moment, and the warriors looked at each other: "Haven't we had enough of protecting goods, that we have to add a hyena-like god to it?" The black-haired warrior looked at her anxiously: "Run away, you fool!" Rose looked very surprised "Why did everyone call me that?" The thief replied, taking note of her regret: "O fox, I will spare your life in exchange for your beautiful horse and what you are carrying with you." Rose looked at him gloatingly: "Take it, if you can.
