18. The Fun One

Monday morning, I'm back at school.

"This week you're going to build your own telescope. We're going to be studying space for a few weeks while our plants grow. I want you to know how telescopes work first. So, pair up."

Akmae turns around. "Us again?"

"Yes, please."

We go to our lab area and draw our plants in our notes. Then we study the parts of a telescope.

"I am making this easy for you this week. You don't have to bring in your own stuff to make the telescope. I have kits here. You'll be putting it together and labeling the different parts. It should be working by Thursday. Friday will be the test on it. That's all I have for today. Good job everyone."

I get out in the hallway and stretch. "I hope all week is this easy."

He nods. "Show up and get an A."

A girl runs by us crying.

"Always so much drama here."

"Yep. It is that. See you in the gym later."

I laugh and walk away. I guess we do follow Amber there every day.

The rest of my classes are equally easy.

Lila sits by me at lunch. "Do anything fun this weekend? You weren't home."

"Royal dinner Saturday. I got so drunk, I woke up on Sunday with an IV and a feeding tube. But I shoved Clayton into the mud pit, so it was worth it."

"That would be fun. Oh, the girls' club is meeting at your house on Wednesday. They couldn't get a hold of you. I told them it was ok."

Conner cracks up laughing. "I'm not surprised."

"Mike already told her the basement is open on Wednesdays. Your team can use the living room if you need to be there."

She nods. "That's what I thought."

On Wednesday, the same girls show up. We talk about who is dating who while we make bracelets. Then we eat cookies.

Lila and I go upstairs after the meeting and Cyrus's parents are here. I ignore them and walk into the kitchen. Granny and Monte are standing there.

Lila looks at me. "Why does Cyrus even live here?"

"I have no idea. But I don't know where else we'd put him. My boys are keeping him, I think."

Granny nods. "You can't throw a prince out, and with the amount of tension between him and his parents, sending him home isn't the answer either. Let them sort it out."

Conner yells, "DINNER." from somewhere.

Granny and Lila head for the dining room.

I hold Monte back and give him a hug. "I'm sorry for thinking you beat up that guy. I should have known you wouldn't do that."

He chuckles and bounces my curl. "That's alright. I know what it looked like. But I'm glad you figured out the truth."

"Dinner." Mike shows up and rushes us out.

Cyrus's parents and brothers sit at one end of the table. Mike sits on the other. The rest of us sit wherever our ass lands. I sit by Lila. Cyrus left his computer on the chair by me. I scoot back a little and hold it in my lap. I search for a s*x store and Lila sits back and peeks at it.

"The teenagers left, sir... Well, the extra teenagers left." She looks at Lila. "Most of them. The ones that are here have a hidden computer."

Cyrus winks at me. I check the computer and all the warnings are on it. I put the computer back and cross my arms. Lila rolls her eyes.

Conner laughs. "Did you 2 get locked out?"

I give him a dirty look. "No. Cyrus put a stupid adult filter on it."

Drogon smirks. "I don't want to know what you were searching for him to do that."

"I want a new black cat costume."

Cyrus shakes his head. "That is not what you're searching for. Now stop."

I cross my arms and glare at the table.

Monte laughs. "What time is the game Friday?"

"6. You coming to watch my game?"

Granny nods. "I'm coming to watch Thena."

Monte smirks. "We're going to watch the cheerleaders."

I smile at them. "We'll save you a good seat. Right in front of us."

Lila nods. "He needs to talk to girls anyway. We can talk to him that way."

Mike signals for the food. "You're going to hear a whole lot of 'watch this'."

Then a chill runs through me. I turn to Lila. "We cannot let him around Jenna."

"Aww. Come on. She's the fun one."

I jump up and throw my spoon. It hits Monte right on his forehead.

He laughs so hard he nearly cries. "I was only joking."

Cyrus nods. "I'm not doing anything anyway. I'll make sure they stay apart."

My eye twitches and rage goes through me.

Lila rubs her eyes. "I'm not sure if that was the right thing to say."

He jumps up and I go under the table. I get to the other side and knock a chair out of my way. Then I climb his back and pull his hair. "WHAT?"

Conner stands up. "Nope." He sits back down. Then he shakes his head at Mike.

"IT WAS A JOKE. MONTE CAN HAVE HER."

Monte nearly falls out of his chair laughing. About the time I grab his head, Dacious jumps up. "I'LL TAKE HER."

Then Queen Stone grabs his arm. "I THINK THE HELL NOT. I FORBID YOU FROM BEING AROUND HER."

"I didn't mean, take. I meant distract or I don't know."

Drogon carries me back to my seat. "Sit and eat, babygirl. You're fine. And nobody will be around her alone. Unless they want to lose their head."

We get reseated and King Stone smiles. "This is good bread."

Mike nods. "It is."

Drogon sits down and cracks up laughing. "I thought Conner was going to get involved in that."

Mike smirks. "He's learning. Can you get her a new spoon please?"

"Yes, sir."

Conner winks at me. "I'm a fast learner."

Drogon laughs harder.

Mike nods. "Soup's good too."

King Stone nods. "Yes, it is."

I snort and take a bite. "Oh, it is good."

We finish eating with nothing else happening and say goodbye to Cyrus's parents. Then Lila drags me out. She drags me all the way upstairs, and we sit on the couch in the hallway in the bedroom level. "I paired my phone with Cyrus's laptop while you were trying to pull his hair out."

"What's that mean?"

"We can listen to what they say when we're not there."

I feel my eyes get bigger. Then I pull her into the bedroom we stayed in last time and shut the door. We lay on the bed so quietly, and she turns on the phone.

Mike says, "No. Leave it alone."

Granny says, "You can't keep it from her."

Cyrus seems pissed, "I have every right to know. You have all taken that test."

Mike answers, "If that test puts you as soulmates, you'll be fine. Do you believe Thena would be? She is still pissed. She's trying to sort out her feelings. I'm not saying you're not mates. But she needs to be more comfortable with you before we test it."

Drogon says, "He's right. She spends a lot of time ignoring you and pretending you're not here. You barely talk. She acts like you're enemies most of the time."

Conner cuts him off, "You f****d her up. She hated you for a while. What the f**k would you do if you found out someone you hated is your soulmate? But I mean, we could do it just to see what would happen."

"No." I can almost hear Mike roll his eyes. "You need to work on communication with her. I'm not going to agree until you're at least friends."

The door opens and Dacious looks at us. He goes to say something, but we dive on him and shove him on the couch in the room. We keep our fingers on our lips so he knows not to say anything. Then we go back to the bed.

Granny is laughing. "That's going to turn so fast. You won't notice it in time."

Cyrus is still pissed. "I'm going to make sure my brothers found rooms."

Granny says, "Monte, go get the helicopter ready." A minute passes. "He's not the only one I want tested."

Drogon says, "Yea, we know."

The door opens as Cyrus knocks on it. I guess we didn't have it all the way shut. Lila shuts off the phone so fast. We smile at Cyrus.

He's still not happy. "Why are you here?"

"We were checking his room."

Lila smiles. "Making sure it has everything rooms have. We'll go now."

I nod fast. "The room is rooming good."

Cyrus crosses his arms and watches us run out. Dacious cracks up laughing before the door shuts.

I drag her across the sitting area and into Mike's room. Then I crack up laughing. "I said, the room is rooming good."

She pushes the door shut and we collect ourselves. Then she turns the phone back on.

Granny and my boys are laughing. Granny says, "Yea, neither of them would handle it well if they found out now."

Then they're quiet for a minute.

My phone rings and I pull it out of my pocket. "It's Akmae. What do I say?"

"Say hello." She pushes me over, and we lay on the bed.

"Hello."

"Hey, are you busy?"

"No. Lila's here. We just had dinner."

"Hi, Akmae."

"Hi, Lila. Listen, my parents are out of town this weekend. You want to come over and hang out, Saturday?"

"Like, a party?"

"No. Not a party. Maybe 20 people. Some of the basketball team will be here. Amber is coming."

I smile at the phone and try not to squeal. "Yea, we'll come."

"Good. Don't talk about it at school or with Jenna please. I don't want half the school to show up."

"We won't."

Lila nods. "We can keep it secret. We'll see you there."

"See you tomorrow. Have a good night."

"You too." I hang up and squeal. It finally comes out. "I got invited to a party."

"Have you kissed him?"

"No."

"You should. I bet he's a good kisser."

"Then you kiss him. I kiss enough boys."

She cracks up laughing. "You really do. Ok, I'll kiss him... So, which of your boys is better in bed?"

"I don't even know. I don't think I could pick a favorite. They're so different. Have you slept with anybody?"

"No. I'm waiting for my mate. What about Monte?"

"Monte and I only sleep. He is very warm though."

"I guess that means he's boring in bed."

We crack up laughing. "Good for cuddling."

"What about Cyrus?"

"Definitely not boring." We giggle.

She puts her hand on her mouth.

"What?"

She points at her phone.

My eyes about pop out. "Honestly, I don't know. We've never done anything. But I'm sure he's not boring."

She shrugs her shoulders. "Yea, he is a prince. They're probably not boring."

I can only hope we pulled that off. "I should ask Akmae if Conner can come to the party Saturday."

"Why? I think he only wanted his friends there. You shouldn't be inviting people."

"You're right. I won't say anything. But I don't know if they'll let me go without one of them going with me."

"We can go shopping or something, then stop in and say hi."

"I guess that'll have to work if they say no. I don't want to be rude and ignore him. It's the first party I've been invited to."

"They'll let you. It's not really a party and your guards have to go anyway."

"That's true. I can't get away from them."

"Yea, they panic. Then we get 2 kings, 2 princes, and the alpha of Darkburn tracking us down."

I laugh so hard I nearly cry. "Don't call Conner the alpha of Darkburn. He's already got a big head."

"That's what he is though."

"I know. But I don't think he knows people call him that."

"He's good at it."

"He really is. At the beginning, I was watching him more because he was never even a delta. But I didn't need to do anything. I still don't. He is perfect in that spot. He's a good Alpha. He'll be an amazing king. The boys help each other out too. They're good. I don't have to do anything."

"The whole city is happy. Every time one of them changes something, they talk about how good it is on the news. And they are letting you and Clayton graduate. Everyone loves them."

"I would be interested to see what they are saying in Crystal Falls."

"I don't know how we would figure that out."

"Maybe we could take the girls' club beach vacation in Crystal Falls? They have beaches. We could roam around and hear rumors. I'll dye my hair."

"I don't think their parents will let them go that far."

"We won't tell. We'll just put everyone on my plane and drug them. They drugged me to get me to Eldervale once. I know how to do it."

"That could work."

"We would have to take my guards. But they just follow me. They never ask where I'm going."

"That will work. But we'll have to go in the summer. Aren't their winters too cold?"

"Yea. Summer only."

She nods. "And we'll have to get the drug mixture right. We won't even be able to tell the leaders."

"True. We'll figure it out."

"Yea, we're smart."

Her phone makes a weird beep, then the door opens. Mike leans on the door frame. "What are you doing?"

"Talking."

Lila checks her phone. "I need to go home. Have a good night."

"You too."

Mike steps out so we can get out. I plop down on the couch. Mike, Drogon, Conner, and Cyrus stare at me. "What? Stop staring at me."

Mike kisses my head, then my lips. "I'm going to bed, babygirl. I love you."

"I love you too. Good night."

Drogon nods. "The only thing we can do is sleep and try to process what we learned tonight." I yawn and put my arms up. He picks me up and cuddles me. "You sleeping with me?"

"Yes, mine."

"All yours." He carries me to bed.
