Ch8
Dillard's POV
I didn't get up when there was a knock on the door. I was too deep in thought about what Aron had said. Was this the sign from the moon goddess I had been asking for? What did it mean? I didn't see her face or get her name or hear her voice. How was I going to find her then?
"Mate?" My head turns to the door where Aron is standing just staring at a beautiful woman with a white streak of hair cascading down her left shoulder. A faint Cinnamon fragrance coming from her. I get up and in three long strides I am at the door staring as well. Is it her, is it really her, but it can't be, the scent isn't that strong. So who is this bright eyed woman?
"Hello, my name is Sarah, I am the head of guests relations. I'm here to welcome you to the wonderful Golden Globe. I'm sorry I couldn't greet you when you came in last night. I do hope you enjoy your time here. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you." She sounds so warm and cheerful. Unlike the stern voice that had my wolf out of control, or the angry one who had shut Aron up earlier.
"How many of you are there?" Aron asked, making Sarah look at us questionable. It seems to register in her head what he was asking.
"O, you are talking about Pam and Kate. Well Kate is in the kitchen getting breakfast started before she works on the rest of the preparations for tonight."
"Hmm, Kate." Aron whispers under his breath like the name was music to his ears.
"Does Kate need any help? I don't know much about cooking but I don't mind learning." Aron is flirting again.
"O no no no. Kate likes her alone time in the kitchen. She will be just fine."
"Really? Even with all the guests coming tonight?" I was curious to meet this chef that could handle a feast on her own. Aron looks at me with the same curiosity.
"Yes, she has everything under control and she has worked all week to get most of it done. Besides, Lilly and Rebecca will be there soon to help finish up."
"Really, an all female kitchen staff?" Aron asked with a grin on his face.
"I need to go see this." He says smiling like a kid at a candy store.
"O no no no. I must strongly urge you not to go down there for your safety. She really doesn't like outsiders in her space and she definitely does not like men being there. The last time a man went down there he was met with a knife two inches away from his head hitting the kitchen door." The sweet woman giggles to herself.
Me and Aron exchange looks of shock and interest at the image of this cook that Sarah has painted for us.
"And what about the assistant manager? I would like to apologize for my harsh reaction to her over the phone this morning." I asked.
"O, Pam. Well she is running around making sure everything is ready for tonight. She takes pride in running this place and being the leader of our little pack of misfits." Sarah says to us beaming with pride for this Pam she calls a leader. But she used the word pack. Do these humans know about our world? I looked at Aron who was looking back at me with so many questions. We turned back to Sarah to get more insight on this "pack" she was referring to but before we could she was talking again.
"Well if there is anything you all need or I can help you with, my office is behind the desk in the lobby. I really need to go. It is nice to meet you all and again welcome to the Golden Globe and enjoy your time here." And with that she is gone leaving me and Aron standing there in shock trying to wrap our heads around everything.
“Well this is going to be interesting.” Aron was the first to break the silence shaking his head with a grin. All I could do was grin. He had a point.
“So I am guessing you are off to try and talk to the feisty cook without getting your head cut off.” I say while smiling back at him knowing my best friend oh so well. He was going to go after the women who made him quit and excited all at the same time. All I could do was hope she didn't cost me my bata.
“And what about you are you not just a little tempted to see the women who cause your wolf to push through your controle. She just might be the one you have been looking for.”
“No way man. I doubt she is the one.” I said back to him while shaking my head.
“Yea, ok and i'm just going to pretend you didn't say mate like it was a question when I opened the door and the smell of chocolate came through.” he retorted back at me.
“Chocolate? I didn't smell chocolate, I smelt Cinnamon.” I said to him in shock of what he just said.
“Well that just provides it.” he says while shrugging his shoulders and walking back to his room.
“Provide what?” I said to his back. Wondering where he is going with this conversation.
“That the assistant manager is your mate and you are too scared to go find her.” I growled at him. Best friend or not, I was never scared. Or maybe I did it because he was right. I was scared of what might happen when I finally looked into her eyes.
“Don't worry Alpha, I will not leave your side, and you can be my wingman when I just walk into the kitchen this evening to meet the cook.” He says with a smile and walks back into his room. It was really good to have my best friend with me for this. I really was not the ladies man and most women I met were only interested in me for my money or my title. I really do hope she will like me for me.
