Chapter 3

925 Words
Almond's POV Unhappy with my performance, I returned. The sun was getting ready to greet all living beings. I lack the bravery to confess to anyone that I did not witness Lucy. I chose to stop by Lucy's house before heading home, and once again I could hear her mother crying. She has been going non-stop since last night. Upon hearing her sobbing from the outdoors, my guilt over what I had done to their child intensified. I tapped on the door, and after a while, Henry answered and let me in. He even glanced at my back, wishing his sister was with me. "Have you located her?" I moved my head from side to side. I decline. He remained silent, allowing me to enter. As the hours passed, the home became overwhelmed with sadness. Is it appropriate to offer them consolation through gentle words? However, in what manner? I observed Henry as he went to his sister's room in tears. The disappearance of Lucy caused so much pain to her family because they loved her deeply. I couldn't manage it by myself, so I visited my father's house. I required his assistance to provide comfort to Lucy's family. I am unsure of what to do next. I have never attempted to console someone when their hearts are shattered. I had never done this before. "What have you done?" He inquired after I recounted everything that occurred. I did not do anything. I looked underneath the cliff but she was nowhere to be found. "Did you happen to mention anything to her?" Absolutely not. I kept on deceiving, claiming "I did nothing." I hoped they wouldn't discover the truth about my recent conversation with Lucy, as it would result in me losing my alpha status. Despite deceiving my father, he still blamed me for the situation, indicating he may have detected my deceit. I reached the cliff's base three hours back, where they indicated her destination. The noise of the ocean waves was overwhelming, and the wind felt colder in this location. I roamed around trying to catch a hint of her scent. Nevertheless, I couldn't find any. She was not present. I didn't find any signs of her. Her orchid's scent went unnoticed. After the cloud covered the moon, I transformed back into my human form. I worked harder to find Lucy and went to the location where I thought she might be located. Yet, no one was in sight to me at that spot. I tried hard to sense her existence, however, her scent of orchid was nowhere to be found. I let out a long breath. "Lucy, where are you situated?" What is the best way to update my pack on the latest news? I might have been accountable for the destiny of my soon-to-be Luna. I plan to soon attain Alpha status, but her recent encounter will negatively impact how others see me. If my parents found out why Lucy disappeared, they would be very upset because they really loved her. Jumping off the cliff would be a foolish decision for her. I desired her absence from my life, but not in this manner. Her actions resulted in added pressure for me and caused further complications in our situation. "That was one of the foolish actions that people like her participated in. Despite the fact that my wolf was injured, it continued to whine. I felt very scared by his emotions. Following our conversation, we returned to Lucy's place. Lucy was a child who had been adopted, however, the true reasons behind the decision to adopt a vulnerable human were unknown to me. I only started paying attention to Lucy when I discovered she is my mate on my 18th birthday. I guarantee that Almond will search for her daily. He is determined to find Lucy no matter what. "Don't give up." I was surprised when I saw my dad. "Almond, is that accurate?" The sorrows can still be heard in the voice of the elderly woman. I exhaled deeply. Affirmative. I was unsure of the reason behind my father's determination to locate her. I understand the significance of every life. However, trying to find her on a daily basis would leave me feeling tired. I desired to locate her in order to set things right. However, it doesn't indicate that I desired her presence back in my life. "Alpha, I appreciate your help." "Could you assist in locating her?" Henry asked quietly. I grinned at them. I was unable to keep those commitments. However, I would do my best to discover the whereabouts of that vulnerable individual. My father and I reassured them with gentle words. I falsely raised their hopes to reassure them. I wished they weren't upset with me for what I had told them, a promise I couldn't keep. We continued our conversation to help them temporarily forget about the previous events. When the moment arrived, my dad and I bid them farewell. Do I have to locate her? Could she potentially be left out of memory, correct? While uttering those words, my father glanced directly into my eyes. "Simply follow my instructions." You must escort her back to the house. My father accused me of harming her, so now I must face the consequences or be responsible for her harm," Then he abruptly left, leaving me stunned. I didn't understand. What made my father want her return, too? Was there something unique about Lucy that made her stand out despite being easily forgettable like other humans?
