Eric stared intently at Amelie, nodding his head to signal her to leave them alone in the room. "Yes, sir, I'll leave now and remember what you just told me." Amelie walked quickly, almost running, toward the door, leaving Aaron and Eric behind. After Amelie left the room, Aaron's gaze shifted to his assistant, and he narrowed his eyes. "Is there something I don't know about her? Tell me who that woman was!" Aaron asked, staring intently at Eric. "I'm sorry, sir, I haven't told you that she is a new maid. I just hired her this morning." "A new maid, you say... Did you hire her because she looks so much like Laura?!" "What's the maid's name, and give me her data right now, quickly!" Aaron snapped curtly. "Her name is Amelie Parker." Eric tried to calm himself as he faced an emotional Aaron. "I'll get the woman's data from my room. Would you like to read it here or _?" "I'm going to my room to freshen up, just bring the data on Amelie there!" Aaron replied irritably, cutting Eric off. "Yes, sir, I'll prepare it right away." Eric breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like he had just escaped death. He felt partly responsible for Amelie being accepted to work at Aaron's residence. A knock on the door interrupted Aaron's reverie as he sat on the large sofa sipping wine, and he called out. "Come in, Eric!" Eric handed Aaron a folder containing Amelie's personal data. "Please check the data on the new maid named Amelie," Eric nodded politely. But actually, his heart was tense about Aaron's response after reading the report. "I want to know, what made you accept her to work here, Eric?!" Aaron muttered curiously. Aaron began to carefully examine Amelie's personal data. When he reached the end, he narrowed his eyes when he read that Amelia was 'the widow of Tom Smith'. Aaron stared coldly at his assistant, demanding an explanation. As if understanding his boss's gaze, Eric quickly spoke up to explain. "Tom Smith was Henry's driver who died after we crashed into his car two months ago, and Tom also had a two-year-old daughter named Rossie. "So in other words, Amelie's husband died because of my orders?!" Aaron asked flatly. Eric knew it was just a sarcastic question that didn't need an answer. Aaron did intend to take revenge for his wife's death, and Henry was the man who had played a part in Laura's death. Henry loved Laura and kidnapped her when she was two months pregnant, even though Laura was married to Aaron. But the woman tried to escape during the trip and died while trying to fight back and run away. Finally, Aaron sought revenge on Henry. He targeted Henry, who was traveling in a car driven by Tom. Tom was none other than Amelie's husband. But Henry knew he was being followed. He had someone else sit in the car, dressed like him, posing as Henry, until Aaron was fooled. On a journey through the hills on a winding road, Aaron ordered his men to crash the car into a ravine, killing Tom and Henry's men instantly. Another fact was that Amelie's face was so similar to Laura, Aaron's late wife. That's what made the situation complicated. Aaron then discussed with Eric how to keep Amelie under their control and prevent her from revealing Aaron's secret about shooting his enemy dead. Aaron thought of using Amelie's daughter, Rossie, as collateral. In addition, Aaron was troubled by the resemblance between Amelie and Laura, his late wife. Aaron said flatly, "Henry had always loved Laura, and he felt he had lost the competition with me for Laura's love. Henry kidnapped her when she was pregnant. Laura tried to escape and died. I planned my revenge on Henry. But he switched the people in the car. Tom died as a substitute." Eric nodded and asked, "Sir, what are we going to do?" Aaron stared at Eric coldly, "Amelie must not know about this, and she must keep her mouth shut about what happened in the warehouse earlier." Aaron pondered for a moment, a long sigh escaping his thick lips. "We'll use Rossie as collateral. From now on, Amelie and her child must stay here, under my supervision and control, do you understand?!" "Put Amelie in the guest room so I can keep an eye on her too." "I understand, sir," replied Eric. "There's one more thing bothering me... her face. It resembles Laura's. That's very unsettling," Aaron whispered, his voice trembling as he struggled to contain the emotional turmoil rising to the surface. "I'm struggling to forget her tragic death, but now there's a woman who looks so much like Laura," Aaron said softly, his gaze drifting out the window of his room. "Then how about we put them both in your private apartment, under the supervision of the guards, because if Amelie stays here all day, it will make you anxious." Eric tried to offer his boss another solution. But Aaron seemed to have other ideas. The handsome CEO of Vargas Corp shook his head firmly. "No need. You know, I think she came here with the intention of avenging her husband's death. We must keep our enemies close, so that when they bite, we can stop them immediately," Aaron said in a low but trembling voice. "Do you agree with me, Eric?" Aaron stared intently at Eric and expressed his opinion, saying that the analogy of 'keeping enemies under surveillance' made sense. "I will follow whatever you command, Mr. Aaron." "I will now have Amelie move to the guest room on this floor." Eric did not want to argue, even though he felt something was amiss in his heart. "Then you may return to your place. Our conversation is over for now." "Continue searching for Henry. I want to finish him off immediately. He destroyed my life by taking the lives of my wife and the child she was carrying!" Aaron said with a furious and angry face. Eric could even feel the aura of anger radiating from Aaron, to the point that his own body was shaking. He knew very well how much Aaron loved Laura and continued to mourn his wife's death. "Yes, sir, I will add more people to the streets to gather information about Henry. I'm sure we'll be able to catch Henry soon." Eric gave a small nod before leaving Aaron's room. "Hmmm..." Aaron just muttered softly, then he poured more wine into his glass and drank several glasses. Aaron's habit was that every Wednesday night, he would drink until he was drunk because he remembered the day Laura died. Aaron felt guilty because he couldn't protect and take care of his wife properly. In his half-drunk state, Aaron's thoughts returned to Amelie. He tried to get up and walk toward the exit. Aaron walked down the hallway and continued toward the guest room where Amelie was staying.
