The next morning felt like fall, though several weeks of summer were still clearly visible on the calendar. Vanessa groaned, remembering why her alarm was set so early, and rolled out of bed to get dressed for her before-school-practice. Unconstitutional, she thought mournfully. She threw on sweats and a t-shirt while attempting to pack a reasonably cute outfit without completely opening her eyes. There was a half-eaten granola bar held between her teeth as she carried her bags outside at the sound of Jess's horn.
“I literally want to poison Brooke's lunch with cilantro today, so we can stop with this double practice bull,” Jess stated emphatically upon Vanessa's arrival to the Jeep.
