CHAPTER 21: THE GATE OF OBLIVION The sky above Chicago had become something unnatural, something that no longer belonged to the world of the living. The stars were gone, swallowed whole by a swirling abyss that stretched endlessly across the heavens. Even the moon had vanished, replaced by a massive vortex of darkness that twisted and pulsed like a living entity. Crimson lightning tore across the sky in violent streaks, illuminating the ruins of the city below in flashes of blood-red light. Buildings stood broken like skeletons, streets cracked and burned, and the air itself felt heavy, thick with the weight of something ancient and terrible. This was no longer just a battle.
