CHAPTER 41: THE PULSE OF FEAR The underground cathedral trembled again. Deep beneath Chicago, the enormous black structure embedded within the ancient stone walls pulsed like a living heart, each movement sending invisible waves upward through the city above. Kevin stood several feet away from it, his claws still extended, golden eyes fixed carefully on the shifting darkness crawling across the chamber floor.
