CHAPTER 43: THE BROKEN CHAINS
The Guardian’s shadow-forged sword pointed directly at Kevin as darkness poured from every crack in its ancient armor. The massive creature stood like a living nightmare beneath the underground cathedral, its silver eyes completely consumed by black corruption. Around them, the Heart pulsed triumphantly at the center of the chamber, sending waves of emotional energy through the city above. Every pulse strengthened the Guardian. Every moment of fear fed its power. Kevin could feel it happening. Somewhere above them, people were fighting, panicking, and turning against one another.
