Our footsteps are light.
There is no sense of urgency as we pass through the corridors of the apartment building. I was expecting to at least bump into two to three people, but none of the other tenants showed their faces.
It seems like my luck continued until this point.
“Where are we going, Calvin? I think we need to report this first to the police. John is clearly at fault, so we don’t have to escape like this. I already sent him to the police once. His crime and punishment are surely bigger this time.”
Calvin once more lightly squeezes my hand. I can’t tell if he is doing it to assure me that everything is all right or to confirm whether I’m real or not. His presence is becoming more and more of a mystery to me.
