Is it bad to be a good Samaritan? ?

I heard a knock on my gate this early evening around six o clock and I wondered who it could be. I lived alone in my house and since I don't have friends or neighbours, I wondered who was it.

I came out of the house to the verandah and from the gate I saw two girls probably University students. It was surprising to meet them there. I went to the gate and spoke to them from the gate.

“Evening ladies, what do you want?“ I asked with a suspicious tone. They began to beg and plead saying they were stranded and needed somewhere to pass the night as they were from the University of Ibadan.

I was surprised because the university was very far from my house side. I had doubts about letting them into the house but I couldn't let them just go. I decided to allow them stay for the night. I took them to the back of the house, to a room which was empty and walked back to my house.

Thirty minutes later, I heard a knock again and I cursed inwardly and went outside to see four police men. I was genuinely shocked to see them in my house. I opened the gate and they forcefully entered saying that they wanted to search my house, accusing me of being a kidnapper. I refused saying I needed to see a warrant. One brought out a warrant, I obliged and wanted to take them to my own house when one said they should check the back. I humbly told him nothing was at the back but he insisted they checked. I followed them and opened the room, i was shocked to see the two girls tied up and taped. The police officers began to label false accusations on me, i denied all the allegations saying that I only helped them out. The police officers didn't listen to me calling me a kidnapper. The police officers said i was under arrest and following them to their station. I begged them to reconsider as i didn't want to follow them to their station, who knows what they would do to me.

They said i should pay the girls if I did not want to follow them. The girls asked for two million naira each. I was agape and told them i didn't have that much money. The officers threatened me and i ended up sending one point five million naira each to them. As i did this the girls abused me, calling me a wicked man and a kidnapper. I lost three million naira today. God help me repay this money as it is company money. ?

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED?

The two girls tied each other up after entering the room. Then one of them called the police (who knows if it was even the police) saying they were kidn*pped. She gave the direction of the house before her friend taped her mouth and she taped her friend's mouth.

Did i do wrong by allowing them into my house?
