Chapter 6

Kian pov I was in my office when I got a mind link, I needed to go down to the cells right away, and I heard the urgency in his voice. Pushing my chair back, I get up and quickly start to head for the door. Getting out of my office and closing the door after me, I head right over to the cells, and once outside the castle, I'm met by Declan and my father standing and talking. Walking by them they both get silent and start walking behind me. "What's wrong?" Declan asks when I take long strides over to the prison building. "I just got a mind link. I needed to get here," I tell them and open the door to the cells with both of them right behind me. It doesn't take me many steps before I smell this mouthwatering scent and my wolf perks his ears up. Coming closer to a cell where a guard is standing outside and waiting, the scent gets stronger, and I know I recognize it from somewhere. The moment he opens the door I remember from where and the shock I get when my eyes fall on her heavy, beat-up body on the floor. My gamma Cannon standing over her with blood oozing out of a wound on his chest, looks furious and ready to rip her apart. Her soft voice cuts through the silence when she speaks and everyone around me gasps in shock when she reveals she's my mate. Her eyes look right at mine for a moment, and I have nothing to say in response. I keep standing there when she turns her head back and looks up at the ceiling before she starts coughing out blood and has a hard time breathing. Her small body all beaten up and lying in angles I know she has several broken bones and, by the look of it, a broken spine as well. I don't move, just standing there and looking at my little mate dying on the floor in front of me. Everyone else stands in silence while I feel their eyes on me, but I don't move from my spot. Declan pushes by me and rushes over to her on the floor when he bends over to pick her up. "Stop!" I bark at him when he scrambles up on his feet and walks over to me, anger is written all over his face. "That's your mate! Either you rush her to the hospital or I will pick her up and carry her there right now!" He yells at me, his anger sips into me. He is the only one who would dare to talk to me this way. Looking between him and my mate on the floor when her lips start turning blue, slowly walking over to where she is lying on the floor. I won't be taking her up, don't want her body close to mine. "Take her to the doctor's room in the castle and have a nurse and doctor over." I tell him, and he quickly walks over and bends down to pick her up. I get a pang of jealousy when he picks her up and have to push the feeling aside when he rushes out of the cell with her tiny body in his arms. She doesn't whimper or make any sound when he disappears out the hall. "Son it might not be enough, she needs the hospital." My father says and I ignore his words. Looking over at Cannon, he just stands there with blood coating his shirt, and I raise an eyebrow at him. "I'm sorry, Kian. I didn't know she was your mate." He says and looks at me with pain written in his face. "Why don't you heal?" I ask him when he looks at his chest and hands that are covered in blood. "It doesn't matter." He answers, and my father comes over and grabs my arm in a hard grip. "We can talk about this later, right now we need to go after her and Declan. Now!" He orders before he starts walking over to the door. I sigh and start walking behind him when Cannon walks beside me but doesn't say a word the whole way. I know he has a lot of questions and will probably start to apologize again. When we come inside the castle my mother is yelling at the nurses, and I drag a hand down my face. She is the last person I want to deal with right now. I know my father has already told her about my mate, and that's why she is here. She will not be happy about this when she finds out the truth. Standing outside the doctor's room, several nurses and a doctor are hooking up her small body to different machines and fluids going in her system. She looks so small and fragile on the bed, a part of me wants to be close to her. Keeping her out of harm's way. At the same time I hate the fact that she is that small and fragile. Just like her and because of it, she is dead. "Kian, it would help her if you gave her some of your blood." My mother comes over and says, turning my head to look at her I just shake it no. I will not help her, she was forbidden to enter my pack grounds again, yet here she is breaking my rule. "For f**k's sake, she is your mate!" Declan's angry voice booms to my side. "We don't know why she is here. All we know is that she was with the rogues and I won't be helping an enemy." I just state the fact before I turn around to walk over to my office, leaving them all to stand there. Coming inside, Declan walks behind me with fast steps, and I know he is here to argue with me before he starts talking. "If she doesn't survive, we can never ask her what she did with them." I just ignore him. She wouldn't be there if she weren't with the rogues, to me, it's all clear. Inside my office, I walk over to my desk and take a seat. My dad and mother with Cannon come inside, and I sigh at the sight of them. I guess they want some answers and won't leave me alone without them. "When did you meet her, and why haven't you told us about her?" My dad asks the moment he comes inside my office. I better just get this over with. When I look at my parents' stern faces, this will be an argument I have tried to hide from them for years. I sigh and take her folder from my drawer, handing it over to my dad before I see him and Declan start to look at it. A moment goes by before he speaks up when I sit back in my seat and rest my chin in my hand with my elbow on the armrest. "You're telling me this is her? The girl who disappeared three years ago!" He says angrily, and I knew he was going to react this way. Looking over at him I guess he is prepared to hear something he doesn't like, and there is no point in hiding it from them anymore. Taking my time to tell them the truth, they all look at me with anger, I didn't expect anything else. "Kian! How could you? We didn't raise you like this!" My mother says with anger in her voice before she starts walking to the door. Looking at her tense back, I know how furious she is about finding out the truth this way. "I'm really disappointed in you!" She growls before she walks out and slams the door shut behind her. Turning my head, I just look at the other three in the room. My dad points his finger at me for a moment but doesn't say anything before he just shakes his head and walks out of my office with heavy steps. I'm sure he will follow my mother and try to help her. I will have to deal with them later, and I know this isn't the last I have heard about this. "I don't get you at all, Kian! This is your second chance mate and you tossed her away." Declan says and takes a seat in a chair while looking at me. I can tell he is shocked by this revelation, and I know he is angry at me. Leaning back in my chair, I look up at the ceiling for a moment while I go over this in my head. There is no point in trying to explain to him my reasons, he won't see it from my point of view.
