Something about Marcus, especially his smile, brought back feelings in Riley as he tried to place where he’d seen this man before. Each time he attempted to reach back and gain a firm purchase of the memory, it slipped past his fingers. Riley continued to work at it. Eventually, he asked, “Do I recognize you from somewhere?” The question only caused Marcus’ smile to broaden and show more teeth. “We met once, not so long ago.
