Certainly! Tourism is important in Ireland, because it is good for the economy of the country. A lot of places in Ireland rely on tourism as a money source. it gives life to a place that would normally be quiet. Tourism in Ireland is seasonal. Starting in Spring and ending in Autumn. There are two types of Tourism: Internal and International Tourism. What International Tourism entails is tourists coming to Ireland from continental Europe and other continents on holiday and they stay here in hotels for a while and they visit some of the historic and cultural places in the country, like, Newgrange Co. Meath, Ceide Fields, Co. Mayo, The Burren, Co. Clare, Lough Gur, Co. Limerick and many more places besides. The tourists buy food mementos of their visit to Ireland to bring back to their own countries. Approximately 6 million people visit Ireland each year and they spend nearly 4 billion euro in lreland. The second type of tourism is Internal tourism. That is the Irish visiting historical and cultural sites around the country and also they buy mementos too to bring back to the county they came from. Internal and International Tourism are good for the country, because people spend a lot of money in the country, as well as that it gives great life to places when tourists are around, e.g. Willie Clancy Summer School that is held in Miltown Malbay each July. Crowds of tourists from all over the world flock to it. You could say the same about the Merriman summer and winter school, crowds flick to it in August and January . There is up to 150,000 people employed in the tourism sector in this country. It is the sector of most growth in the world and it is the most important for Ireland's economy. Approximately 6 million people visit Ireland each year and they spend nearly 4 billion in the country. According to figures released by the Central Statistics Office 2003 was a reasonable year for tourism. There was an increase in the amount of tourists from abroad from January to June. 3% of a rise compared to this time last year and it continued to rise during the summer months. The amount of nights spent by tourists here decreased to less than 1%. Therefore only part of the tourism sector has benefited from a lot of tourists. The picture improved From September 2003 onwards. These improvements didn't have much impact on the tourism sector for it to be back at 2002 levels. To end, tourism is important to the economic and cultural parts of the country, as I said before, it is the fastest growing sector in the world with 150,000 people employed. Ireland is a small country, but has a big heart.
