Leila’s POV My eyes fluttered open to pale morning light filtering through gauzy curtains. For a moment, I lay still, heart fluttering like a trapped bird, where was I? The room smelled of lavender and wood smoke, soft and unfamiliar. I sat up with a gasp, blanket falling from my shoulders, and stared around. The walls were painted a gentle cream, decorated with tapestries of wolves under moonlight. A small wooden table held a pitcher of water and a cup. Everything was too neat, too peaceful. My wrist throbbed. I looked down to find a thin silver chain wrapped loosely around it, a charm dangling, a crescent moon carved into a tiny stone. Confusion swirled through me.
