I blinked swiftly at Leila as soon as I heard her say that she had already let go of our connection. I wanted to call her bullshit and say that she was lying, but something about the emptiness in her eyes when she looked at me made me know that she had given up on trying to be loved by me.
I moved my eyes away from her face and immediately caught Henry's gaze. I noticed that both him and Elijah were staring at me like I had grow a second head.
I needed to act fast before they began to get the wrong idea.
“Oh. Good, then. I just wanted to make sure”, I said as I slowly backed away from the trio.
Elijah frowned deeply as he stared at me.
“You know, if you're only equipped with suspicion, you shouldn't attack someone like that all in the name of confronting them.”
