He began leaving the room so I could prepare for the ball. I was overjoyed, I felt some kind of pull and a weird sensation go through my entire body as I watched him leave.
I had felt the same way with Elijah and even Liam too earlier. It was weird. Maybe it was all the excitement from getting to meet my mate soon.
I shook my head, and went back to getting ready for the ball. I put on the blue gown, and I also put on the shoes. I felt like I was a queen, I danced around my room. I failed to notice that someone had come to see me.
I turned to see Amalia standing by the doorway admiring me as I danced around the room. She smiled and said. “You look magnificent, Leila.”
I blushed with her remark, I replied to her with great joy in my heart as I kept dancing around. “Thanks Amelia, the Alpha gave me the dress. Elijah and Henry gave me the shoe and necklace.”
I noticed her smile grew more, she got up and joined me in dancing . “Wow, well it’s normal since you have been with them since you were six. What did Liam give you?”
I stopped dancing immediately when I heard Liam, I don’t know why but whenever I hear his name, my heart would skip a beat. I was secretly crushing on him, despite how he always treated me.
Liam read the expression on my face and she immediately knew what had happened. “You two had another fight? The two of you were inseparable as kids. I don't know what caused the rift between the two of you.”
I sat on my bed, I took a deep breath. “He literally hates me and I don’t know why, maybe I should stop trying to make him like me.”
Amalia patted my head and said to me, “Stop worrying yourself about that, he will come around.”
“But today is your day, don’t let him ruin it for you. Now get yourself cleaned up, it's almost time for the ball.”
I smiled, I felt whole once more I quickly got up and got myself cleaned up and put on the gown I got as a gift from Orion, I put on the shoe and necklace Elijah and Henry gave me.
I looked at the mirror and I couldn’t see the weak crying seven year old that Orion found in the ruins of a village. I hardly couldn’t recognize myself.
I felt the sensation once more and this time it was more intense than before, I could feel my entire body heat up. It was like someone was calling me.
I shook it off and headed down for the ball, Amalia was waiting for me outside my quarters. I smiled as she admired my dress. I felt happy. We walked down to the ball and everyone was dancing. I looked across the hall and I saw Alpha Orion with the council of elders sitting by his side.
He looked at me then he gave me a wink, my confidence got boosted. I followed Amalia to where our little group of friends were dancing.
“Wow, you look absolutely beautiful. I think I will be stealing the gown later.” Becky said, admiring me as I danced with them.
“Thanks for the heads up, I will probably sleep with it on tonight.” I replied, causing the little group to laugh.
We were getting glares from different angles. It was the male wolves present, it was the full moon night, the one night that no wolf can control their urges but they fight to keep it at bay.
I looked across the dance floor to see Elijah and Henry, the two were discussing something as usual.
Suddenly that sensation creeped up on me and it felt so intense. Their eyes caught mine and it was like I was in a daze. The distinct strong smell of Oak and another strong smell of dry earth blasted my nostrils.
I felt my entire body burning up, I felt my legs trembling and the two started walking towards me.
I turned and tripped, almost falling to the ground but someone caught me and the moment his arms touched me, I felt the howl of my wolf.
‘Mate’
“What the hell?” He said coldly, throwing me back down like I was burning him. “You can’t be my f*****g mate.”
His words stung me like a sharp arrow pierced my heart. He was my mate, the one the goddess chose for me but he had already indirectly rejected me.
My wolf howled in pain in my head and I couldn’t see anything again.
“What’s your problem Liam?” I heard Henry’s harsh voice as he tried to help me up but I flinched away from his hold.
“Leave me alone,” I snarled. His voice seemed to calm my wolf’s rage but mine had taken over and the strong smell of oak was invading my senses, coming from him.
I dusted my dress as I stood to my feet just to hear a loud sickening crunch.
Elijah had punched Liam squarely in the face. “Show some f*****g respect brother!”
“You’re so dead!” Liam growled. He extended his claws to attack Elijah as he lunged at him but Elijah punched him back, snarling as bones started to break and they both shifted.
“Come here,” Henry said, pulling me into his hold and I heard it for the second time.
‘Mate’
My heart thudded as I looked up at Henry and he was looking down at me, our eyes locked and I could see he was as confused as I was.
How was this possible to be mated to two people?
“You’re my mate?” Henry said surprised.” You’re my mate. Oh goddess!” He sounded more excited as he hugged me tightly.
His hands felt comfortable, like my safe place but something about the two Alpha wolves that were ready to tear each other to shreds over me kept pulling me.
Was it possible? That I was mated with all three?
