Chapter 14: The Unfortunate Event

1114 Words
When Nia'le saw how difficult Tassa's everyday life was, he decided to join her in the Infinite Night. He let Ayamani take his soul and asked Tassa to bring it back later. They stayed there for only five minutes, but in the Infinite Night, five minutes was equal to five weeks in the real world. That meant Nia'le had technically been dead for five weeks. However, his body did not decay because Ayamani preserved it, just as Tassa had requested. Because of Nia'le, Tassa was no longer afraid of the Infinite Night. He gave her hope, and because of that, she became more motivated to keep moving forward. She had also found a new friend she could talk to, even if he acted like a moron sometimes. Tassa simply thought that maybe he was just eccentric. After their long slumber, which felt like five months to them, they finally woke up and returned to real life. Nia'le woke up first and saw Tassa sleeping peacefully beside him. He looked at her beautiful face and quietly said, "She still looks beautiful even when she's sleeping." He continued staring at her and suddenly became confused. "Is it really her, or am I seeing a different person? Is she always this beautiful? I mean, I know she looks beautiful, but this is so uncanny. She looks like a goddess sleeping on my bed. Just looking at her face really is so uncanny. I just can't believe that such beauty exists." A few moments later, Tassa finally woke up. Nia'le immediately looked away and avoided looking at her. Tassa yawned, and as she stretched her arms, she accidentally nudged Nia'le. It was only a gentle bump, but she still apologized. Nia'le replied, "It's o...K." The moment he looked at her again, he lost his words and simply stared at her face. "Did she really exist? I mean, her beauty is so unbelievable. Why would Heaven make such an uncanny beauty? Does He want all men to fight over a beautiful mysterious girl?" he thought. "Nia'le, are you okay? Why aren't you talking?" Tassa asked. Nia'le quickly stood up and said, "Nothing, never mind that." "Never mind what?" Tassa asked. "Just forget it." Then he left the room. Tassa simply sat there, pouted, and said, "Who asked you anyway?" Nia'le and Tassa spent the rest of the day cleaning up the mess they had left behind during their five-month slumber. The food they had gathered during their last hunt had already rotted. Their furniture was covered in dust, and the whole place had become untidy. Together, they cleaned the entire house. Afterward, Nia'le went out to hunt for fresh food while leaving the cleaning to Tassa. Once he was ready, he left the mansion and headed into the forest to hunt. ***Forest*** Nia'le was walking through the forest when he came across the field of dandelions again. He frowned and clicked his tongue. "Oh, this stupid weed." But then he remembered the day he gave a dandelion to Tassa. He remembered how she closed her eyes and gently blew on it, making the tiny seeds drift into the sky as she made a wish. Without realizing it, Nia'le smiled. He picked a dandelion from the field and looked at it. "It's not that I'm giving this to her, but just..." He paused and shook his head. "Oh, never mind. What an insignificant girl." He tucked the dandelion away and continued hunting. After catching an animal, he headed back home. By the time he arrived, evening had already come. "I'm back," Nia'le called out. No one answered. He looked around the living room, but Tassa wasn't there. He checked the kitchen. Still nothing. He even looked outside, but she was nowhere to be found. A feeling of worry suddenly crept into his chest. What if someone broke into the house and took her?* Then he heard Tassa scream. Nia'le's eyes widened. "Tassa!" He immediately ran upstairs toward his room. When he entered, his bed was empty. Then he heard the sound of splashing water. "Tassa!" Another scream came from the bathroom. Not knowing what else to do, Nia'le knocked on the door. "Tassa, are you okay?" But she didn't answer. Instead, she screamed again. "Tassa, what's happening? Tell me! Are you alright?" Still no answer. Then he heard another scream, followed by a loud crash as several objects fell onto the floor. Nia'le couldn't take it anymore. He pushed the bathroom door open. The moment he entered, he froze. Tassa was sitting on the floor, completely naked. For a few seconds, Nia'le simply stared in shock. Then Tassa grabbed everything that had fallen around her and started throwing them at him. "Get out! Get out! Get out, you perverted disgusting creature!" She pointed toward the door. "GET OUT!" The last thing she threw was a heavy wooden chair. It flew straight toward Nia'le and struck him directly on the head. Everything went black. "Close the door, Ayamani!" Tassa shouted. Ayamani immediately closed the bathroom door. Tassa leaned against the wall, her face burning with embarrassment. She didn't even want to leave the bathroom anymore. Nia'le had already seen everything. Meanwhile, Nia'le lay unconscious outside, blood slowly spreading across the floor from the wound on his head. After some time, Tassa finally got dressed and stepped out of the bathroom. As she walked forward, she accidentally stepped on something. "What was that?" she asked. "It's Nia'le's body lying on the floor," Ayamani replied. Surprised, Tassa lightly kicked him. He didn't react. "Ayamani, what happened to him? Is he dead?" "Don't worry. He's alive. He's just lying on the floor." Tassa kicked him again. "Drenched in his own blood," Ayamani added. "Drenched in blood?" Tassa exclaimed. "Ayamani, help me!" Ayamani immediately guided her toward Nia'le. Together, they lifted him and carried him onto the bed. Tassa anxiously held her hands together. "Ayamani, what happened to him? Did he trip on the floor? Wait, maybe he slipped accidentally, just like what happened to me in the bathroom before." "He did not trip nor slip, Tassa." "Neither of those? Then what happened to him?" Ayamani looked at her silently before answering. "You threw a heavy wooden chair at him, and it hit him directly on the head. That's what happened." Tassa froze. She remembered throwing many things at him, but because she couldn't see, she had no idea what had hit him. She nervously bit her nails. Then she remembered Xart, who had once taught her how to heal. Slowly, she placed her hands over Nia'le's wound. This time, she wasn't going to use ordinary medicine. This time, she was going to use magic.
