CHAPTER 27
MAE“Are you okay?” Samuel asked, parking in my driveway.
I held my trembling fingers still and swallowed hard, all the emotions from last week bursting through me. “Shouldn’t you just assume that I’m not because I’m weak?” I snapped, knowing that he really didn’t think that but unable to stop myself. I wanted to be angry with everyone but myself, but this was my fault.
“Mae, if I hadn’t said that to him, you would be marked right now,” Samuel said, one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting on the center console. “His wolf hasn’t come out for a week. Once he recognized it was you, he must’ve snapped. He was more possessive than I had ever seen before. I didn’t know what to do. Damon’s wolf can do some really, really bad things.”
