Only the faint trace of her perfume lingered on the sheets, soft and familiar, like a memory that refused to leave. I pushed myself up slowly and looked around her bedroom. Everything was in place. Clean. Untouched. Like nothing had happened. My clothes were folded neatly on a chair. Folded. Not tossed aside the way we had left them. There was a glass of water on the nightstand.
