Chapter 4
Ella arrived at work almost ten minutes late. That had never happened before.
Her heels clicked quickly across the marble floor while employees greeted her carefully. But she barely noticed any of them because her thoughts were a complete mess.
Andrew’s voice.
His smirk.
That unexpected laugh, even the way he looked at her kept replaying inside her mind.
Ella dropped into her office chair and covered her face with both hands.
“What is wrong with me?” she muttered.
She had spent months hearing terrifying rumors about Andrew Stuart, yet the man she met yesterday was nothing like the ruthless monster everyone described.
If anything, he was unexpectedly patient, and annoyingly attractive, that realization only frustrated her more.
A knock interrupted her thoughts, it was her secretary, she stepped inside carrying several documents.
“Miss Nelson, these need your approval.”
Ella immediately straightened, work was here, she needed to focus on work.
Not on her arranged fiancé.
Unfortunately, concentration refused to come, even during board meetings, her mind wandered repeatedly.
She hated how easily Andrew unsettled her,by evening, she was already mentally exhausted.
---
Across the street, Andrew stood inside his office on the top floor of Stuart Corporation.
From the massive windows behind him, he could clearly see Nella Corporation. His schedule for the day had been packed from meetings to contracts, to investors meeting with him
Yet somehow, Ella still occupied his thoughts.
Andrew frowned slightly, this was ridiculous, the marriage was supposed to remain strictly business, without any emotions,no attachments.
So why did her expressions keep replaying inside his mind?
Her stubbornness, her nervousness, even the way she tried hiding embarrassment amused him.
“She’s trouble,” he muttered quietly.
At first, he expected a spoiled heiress obsessed with luxury, instead, Ella felt unexpectedly genuine. And to him genuine people were dangerous.
Because they had a way of slipping past carefully built walls.A knock sounded at the door.
“Come in.”
Someone stepped inside carefully,it was Joe his personal assistant
“Young master, Chairman Stuart wants to see you immediately.”Andrew didn’t look up from the document in his hand.
“I’ll visit later.”
Joe hesitated.
“He said it’s urgent.”
Andrew’s expression darkened slightly. The old man rarely used that tone unless something important was happening.
Finally, Andrew closed the file.“Prepare the car.”
Joe nodded quickly.
Even after years of working together, Andrew’s cold presence could still make people nervous. As Joe hurried out, Andrew’s gaze drifted once more toward Nella Corporation, something told him life was about to become far more complicated.
