Valentina's POV
Ryker hadn’t made it a request when he gave me that order, he was stern on it and the last thing I would want was to disobey him until I found my escape out of this place.
“I can’t go anywhere,” I said quietly.
The woman raised an eyebrow. “You can.”
“No,” I said again, sharper this time. “I won’t.”
A beat of silence passed between us.Then strangely she smiled. Just a small curve of the lips like something had been confirmed.
“I’ll tell them,” she said, and without another word, she turned and left.
The door clicked shut behind her. I exhaled slowly, only then realizing I’d been holding my breath the whole time.
