I sink into the office sofa, eyelids already heavy before I even glance at the mountain of paperwork stacked on the desk. Sleep has been rare these last few days. Between Baylee’s condition and the early morning battle, both Drake and I are running on fumes. “Just rest our eyes for a moment,” Layla groans through our lips as Drake settles beside me. I lean into him, and his arms wrap around me like a blanket I’ve needed for far too long. “Yeah,” he murmurs. “A few minutes won’t hurt.” And just like that, sleep swallows me whole. ⸻ “Mum, Dad—it’s dinner time.
