I grab a coffee in the kitchen and frown when I spot Baylee at the end of the table with a massive chocolate cake in front of her. She’s digging into it like it’s whiskey and she’s a lifelong alcoholic on a bender. “Baylee, you’re not meant to be down here. You’re supposed to stay with Caden upstairs!” Drake scolds from behind me. He kisses my cheek as he passes, grabs a coffee of his own, and walks over to her. I take the seat between them, reach for a fork, and help myself to a huge chunk of cake. Baylee just shrugs, completely unbothered that our land looks like a war zone. “I was hungry again. My wolves killed five humans today,” she says proudly, grinning like she just won a medal. Layla pushes forward inside me, her presence prickling beneath my skin. “They did? Really?” she ask
