Adele stepped out of the private jet first as its wheels touched the California runway. The wind swept through her brown hair softly, following the rhythm of the air as camera flashes exploded below her.
Gasps exploded through the crowd instantly. Cameras flashed so violently it looked like lightning striking from every direction.
“Oh my God, that’s her, the Waltcoff heiress.”
“She’s alive?”
“I heard she was found in a mental asylum.”
“No, they said she lost her memories.”
“How does someone born into that family disappear for three years?”
“She grew up in California her entire life. How did she even end up wandering around New York alone?”
The voices crashed over each other endlessly as reporters surged forward like hungry wolves.
Security immediately formed a wall, but it barely helped. The moment Adele descended another step from the jet, the frenzy became worse.
People stretched phones into the air.
Journalists screamed questions over one another.
“Adele, is it true you forgot your identity?”
“Were you really living under another name?”
“Who took you?”
Adele’s eyes narrowed slightly as another camera flash exploded across her face. She turned to Zion beside her. “I clearly told you not to let anyone know I was back.”
Zion smirked. This was not his style. There was only one brother obsessive enough to announce Adele’s return to the entire world like a national holiday. Daven.
During the flight back to California, Zion had only told Daven a little of Adele’s lost memories and the brutality she faced. He had no idea Daven was already preparing a grand public return that would throw the entire country into chaos.
“Daven did this,” Zion said casually, his eyes shamelessly roaming over the beautiful reporters fighting through the crowd. He brought out his card, throwing it at a particular dark skinned journalist and mouthing “call me” in front of everyone.
Apart from being dangerously unstable, Zion’s endless scandals and shameless obsession with women had become almost legendary over the years.
“Did you really stay inside an asylum?” Another reporter continued.
Zion turned His expression remained calm. Which somehow felt more dangerous.
“If another person says the word asylum around my sister again,” he said quietly, “I’ll make sure you disappear before sunrise.” He opened the sleek car door for his sister and they zoomed off.

“What exactly is this?” Adele snapped barely ten minutes after arriving at the mansion. She threw the newspaper onto the floor while standing in front of the three Waltcoff brothers.
“The Heiress Returns… but Revenge Must Be Served?” Adele read the headline slowly, her brows pulling together in confusion. “What exactly is this?” she asked, pointing at the screen.
“It is exactly what it sounds like, Adele,” Daven said coldly. “The Harringtons will regret the day they ever touched you.”
“I could simply kill them all,” Zion said lazily while cleaning his gun with terrifying calmness.
“Calm down, Zion. Killing people is a sin. You should leave this in the hands of the police.” The second Waltcoff brother said.
“Police?” Zion scoffed.
“Ever since you decided to become soft, you have become more and more stupid and annoying. Someone tried to kill our sister through an accident, sent her to a mental asylum and you speak of tranquility?”
“You do not understand, Zion,” Horace said seriously. “The world is ending. Repent for your sins.”
“Says the man who suddenly found God because the woman he likes only dates religious men.” She is never going to love you Horace. You are in some unrequited love and shit.”
“f**k you!” Horace yelled, taking harsh steps towards his brother and grabbing him by his shirt.
“Language Horace! That is not a word a reborn should be heard saying.” Zion whispered, his chest vibrating in mockery.
Horace’s eyes darkened instantly. Everything his brother had said had an atom of truth. He changed himself for a woman that would never look at him in that way, all she saw was a brother in him which pained him the most.
“At least, I don't go around sleeping with different women, just because the one you truly wanted, decided to marry your best friend.” Horace smiled back, snatching the smug smile off Zion's face.
“Enough.” Daven rose to his feet slowly, and the entire atmosphere turned cold instantly.
“You two should have some respect for your sister who had just arrived. We haven't seen her in three years and all you guys can talk about is women.”
Zion released himself harshly from Horace. “Well we can confirm our sexuality, how about you who doesn't like women.” He mumbled.
“What the hell did you say to me?” Daven raged.
“Stop, please! Stop all these.” Adele finally spoke up.
“No one is going to do anything. “I am going to handle this myself. I will destroy every single person who ruined my life.”
“And most importantly, I want to find the person who started all this. The one who rammed into my car, caused the accident that erased my memories, and threw me into an asylum in another city where no one would ever think to look for me.”
“I want to teach them a lesson they will never forget.”
“Mrs Harrington said I was bluffing and couldn't do anything. Isaac said he could kill me and there would be no consequences. I'd like to take them on a rollercoaster of emotions, that a single hair on my skin costs more than a billion dollars.”
“I'd like Gina whom I thought was the most innocent person ever to pay for calling me barren.”
“Three years of pain and abuse would cost them their lifetime.”
“I want them to suffer slowly but surely. I will ruin them myself.”
Adele’s eyes hardened. The moment Adele Woltcoff remembered who she was, everyone who destroyed her was already doomed.
“Damn.” Zion rubbed both hands over his arms dramatically like Adele’s words had physically given him chills.
A faint smirk appeared on Adele’s lips. She had always been disciplined and controlled, but now something darker was growing inside her.
“And one more thing,” Adele said, looking directly at her brothers. “I want to get married.”
Silence stretched in the atmosphere for some time before it was broken.
“What? To whom?” Daven asked softly.
The statement shocked all three brothers because Adele had once hated the idea of marrying so much that she had run away from home because of it.
“Over my dead body will I marry someone like Lucien.” The flashbacks were vivid.
“I hate him. He bullied me in school and none of you did anything. Not even our parents.” She cried that night, three years ago.
Daven had tried to explain to her that she had misunderstood him but she ran away and unfortunately, never came back.
“To Lucien Madoff.” Adele's voice didn't crack.
“What? You are joking right? Horace interjected. “You want to marry someone that is heartless and insane?”
“He is just like Zion, Adele… no, he is even worse.”
“I don't need you guys to give me your opinions, I am just letting you all know of my plans. I may have refused to marry him in the past but I changed my mind now.”
“Lucien’s power stretches far beyond this country. No one can compete with him.”
“With the Waltcoff name behind me and a dangerous billionaire husband by my side, my enemies would crawl in fear.” Adele smiled hard, her cheeks almost touched her eyes.
“You humiliated him by running away three years ago Adele, Lucien would never say y
es to you now.” Daven said, sitting back on the couch.
“We will see about that,” Adele whispered, touching her bruised lips.
