“You didn’t have to do that,” she managed, her voice steadier this time.
Diego’s lips tugged into a faint smile, one that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I know,” he replied. “But you look different like this. I like it.”
Her body betrayed her, leaning in slightly, caught in the pull between wanting to move away and staying right where she was.
“You always do this,” she muttered, half annoyed, half something else. “What’s your problem?”
