Nights Like This

CHAPTER 4

The skies are very clear today and the sun looks really pretty in my eyes today. My work load for today is not heavy at pa - tapos ko na lahat. Nothing stressful happened so far and I can't wait to go home and dip myself at my tub with lots of bubbles while I sip my champagne on the side. I just wanna end my day gracefully.

I am scrolling through a website of my favorite clothing store because they are now on sale and there's this bag that I have been eying for the last past week. I firmly believe that I deserve such a nice bag like that from all the hardwork that I did and alll the stress that I have acquired for the weeks.

I heared rushed footsteps from a distance so I exited the tab and pretend that I am really deligently doing my job.

I stopped my face from crumpling nang magka titigan kami ni Sir Gab na hinabulan pa nya ng isang wink na akala nya naman gusto kong makita. Sinenyasan nya akong sumunod sa kanya while he go to Sir Vance's office.

Tinabihan ko si Maui, his secretary. The only person na natatagalan ang craziness ni Gabriel. I mouthed her 'what' but ahe lost her chance to answer me because the devil looked back at our direction.

"Camila, are you doin' good these days?" tanong nya.

"Yes, sir. I am very good. Thank you for asking, " sabi ko sa kanya. Tuwing kausap ko si Gabriel, I really keep my professional and cold tone to him especially if he's asking personal thing because I want to prove a point na he will never ever get through me.

I don't want to give him the satisfaction.

"Come on, Cami. Don't be so cold to me. I'm sure your father will agree to me," aniya and he raised one of the corner of his lips.

I instantly felt the raging fire inside mwe nang banggitin nya ang huli nyang sinabi. Really? He really has the guts to mention my father in this conversation?

I opened my mouth to speak but he just opened the door at Sir Vance office. I don't have a choice but to follow kahit na Gabriel really gets under my skin.

He's at his table while sitting in a chair at nagbabasa ng papers. He's leaning on the table while his body is slightly slanted and his other hand's massaging his temple na naka kunot while the other is holding a ballpen. Naka suot sya ng white long sleeves but the sleeves are rolled up to his elbows.

"Mr. Robles!" masayang bati ni Gabriel kay Sir Vance.

Sir Vance slightly tilted his head upwards and his brows are slightly raised too. Nagtama ang paningin naming dalawa and can I just say that he looks good in that white long sleeved polo?

"Sir," bati ko sa kanya. Sir Vance raised both of his eyebrows this time on me as he leans backwards to his chair, all while momentarily ignoring the guy beside me.

"Mr. Robles?" tawag ulit ni Gabriel sa kanya na may halo ng pagtataka. I could see him na naglilipat lipat ng tingin sa amin ni Sir Vance in my peripheral view.

I seriously wanna laugh right now but all I managed to do is to lower my head to hide the smirk on my lips. It's kind of obvious to me that Sir Vance clearly heared him but won't give the attention that Gabriel wants.

I like his attitude already. The only thing that I like is one, alcohol drinks and two, people who hates and throws shades at Gabriel.

"Vice President! Forgive me, sir. I kind of didn't see you standing there. I thought it's one of our emoloyees," ani Sir Vance. Tumayo sya mula sa pagkaka upo at umikot para malapitan kaming dalawa. He glanced when he passed in front of me and then stopped at Gabriel's

Kinagat ko ang labi ko to supress my laugh. Oh my gosh! I really like him! He passed my vibe. I don't know his reason why he's doing that but I feel like he is the perfect boss for me!

Gabriel looked confused and is near to being offended but he just shook his head and smiled at my boss. "Ah, Vance. That's fine, that's cool. You're new here so I will be the bigger person to understand that you're not used to my presence. Don't worry, pags nag tagal ka rito, you'll even know that it's me kahit naka talikod ako sa malayo kahit wala ka pang salamin," mayabang na sabi ni Sir Gabriel and tinapik pa si Sir Vance sa likod.

Seriously, how can Maui tolerate this crazy guy? If I were her, I might've strangled him already the moment that he opens his mouth to speak.

Sir Vance laughed and shook his head. "I doubt, sir. I'm basically blind without my eyeglasses." He raised his arm and then pushed the top bar of his glasses.

Gabriel's smile slowly shrinks and then he cleared his throat while looking at the side.

I seriously wanna get out of here and let out the big laugh that I am trying hard to hide on them. Tama lang iyon kay Gabriel. Sir Vance for the win!

Gabriel, yet again, cleared his throat and forced a smile. "Anyway, since I mentioned na you are new to our company, we are set to have a team dinner tonight to officially welcome you to the team. It's on the company, " pamalita ni Gabriel.

Lahat ng tawa ko kanina na pilit kong itinatago, it all died in an instant. "What?" I reacted.

Napa lingon silang dalawa sa akin because hindi pa nga nakakapag react si Sir Vance, nauna na ako na halos tumili.

Bigla akong tinamaan ng hiya. I mean, they're technically, is still my boss. Okay. That was so unprofessional of me and I am ashamed of what I did.

"Why, Cami?" tanong ni Gabriel. He even stepped towards me and held my braso. I made sure to respectfully create a distance beween us so I removed his hands from holding me.

"I'm sorry, sir. I'm just shocked to hear that we're having a team dinner tonight," I reasoned out.

"Why? Is there a problem with that? Do you have plans later?" tanong nya. My gaze slipped at Sir Vance in Gabriel's back and he's just staring at me, also waiting for the answer.

"No, sir. I'm just shocked. I'll go later.

," sabi ko.

I let out a big sigh without noise. I can't believe I have to give up my plans for later. I really thought that this day will be perfect and not until the spawn of the devil, Gabriel, decided to hold a dinner out of the blue.

Wala naman akong malaking problema sa team dinner and cancellatioj of my plans, the bigger problem here is Gabriel. I don't wanna be in a same place as him for a long time. I'm so fed up with his antics.

"Other employees might have a plan tonight, sir. I think it's better to ask them first before enforcing this to them. I'm fine without all these dinners and I am thankful for the initiative but we can't inconvenience others." Sir Vance stepped in the conversation.

Yeah! Go Vance, tell him!

Gabriel clapped his hands and then nods. "Right! Right. We should do that," sabi nya at agad nauna na lumabas.

We asked the employees and I hoped that they'll be on my side but that is not tbe case.

And it's because the majority said that that want that dinner tonight because he'

said he's treating

Oh gosh. I just might crasth today.
