Maggie's POV
I'm staring at Xander's retreating back. What a back it is! That man was sculpted to perfection. I'm so confused, he is so confusing.
"Maggie, we are all gonna go change and head to the rec room!" Brandi calls wrapping her towel around her large breasts.
"Awesome. I'm gonna go up and shower. I'll meet you all there." I tell her slipping on my sandals.
I go up to my guest room and grab my clothes out of my suitcase before heading to the bathroom. Apparently, Andre was instructed to request my suitcase from the girls. Andre told the girls the 'boss' said I was staying in here for the rest of the weekend. I'm not sure which boss he was referring to, but I'm thankful. I'm more comfortable here, plus the girls will probably use the room for more guest appearances.
I quickly shower and change into a loose flowy tank and jean shorts. I was about to slide my sandals on when there was a knock on the door. I quickly walked over and opened it to find Xander standing there with an older gentleman.
"Hey... what's up?" I ask. Xander looks delicious. He is freshly showered, his hair is still damp and slightly falling onto his forehead. He is wearing dark jeans and a white v-neck shirt that shows off his muscular torso.
"Maggie, this is Dr. Greene. He's gonna check over your ribs, just to make sure everything is okay." Xander said promptly.
"Okay....?" I said confused.
"Hello, young lady! I heard you were in quite the tussle yesterday. Xander here asked me to come out to check you over. I understand that you are a nurse, so I'm sure if it was anything concerning you would have seeked medical attention." Dr. Greene smiled showing wrinkles around his eyes.
"Yes, I checked myself over after the incident. I do have some nice bruises and some tenderness, but I didn't feel any deformities or have any change in breathing. So, I deemed it safe." I laughed.
Dr. Greene nodded showing his agreement. Xander looked over to him and glowered. What is with him?
"All the same, let's just double check your diagnosis since I'm here." Dr Greene stated giving me a smile and giving Xander a pointed look.
"Sure, that's fine with me. It is always good to have a second opinion." I chuckled. I think I understand him. Xander called him over to check on me and will not let him leave without doing it.
I opened the door for him to come in. He walked in and Xander was starting to come in after him.
"Nu-uh. Not you. You wait here." With that I shut the door and followed Dr. Greene to the couch in the room.
"Alright dear, let's take a look at these bruises." Dr Greene stated putting sanitizer on his hands.
"Sounds good. I have one here on my jaw and then the bad one is over my left ribs." I responded pointing to my right jaw.
He assessed my face and nodded. Then I lifted my shirt for him. Dr. Greene's eyebrows furrowed a bit. I didn't blame him, the bruising is pretty extreme. He gently palpated around the injury before palpating over the bruise. As soon as he moved over the bruise I gave a small cry of pain.
"Sorry dear. Everything looks fine. I'll give you something for the pain though. Just try to take it easy for a while." He said softly, placing my shirt back down.
"Thanks Doc!" I smiled. He reached into his bag and gave me a small bottle of pain medication.
"My pleasure. Now if you'll excuse me. I better go let the boss know you'll live." He sighed. I chuckled and nodded at him.
Dr. Green and I both exited the room finding Xander pacing the hall. He gave a huff and ran his finger through his hair. He turned to continue pacing, but finally noticed our presence. He walked up to us with a serious expression, but when he looked at me his eyes held concern.
"Well?" He questioned Dr. Greene gruffly.
"She is fine, no broken ribs. Just some bruising and moderate pain. I gave her some medication for the pain and told her to take it easy." Dr Greene explained.
"Alright, thank you Dr. Greene. You may leave." Xander dismissed. I gave the doctor a small wave and decided to search for the rec room.
"Are you alright?" Xander asked me in a softer tone than he just displayed.
"Yep, I'm just looking for the rec room. Brandi said that's where everyone would be." I answer.
"That's not what I meant... the rec room is this way" he pointed. "I heard you... cry out... like you were in pain. Are you alright?" Xander repeated.
"Oh! Yeah, I'm good. The doctor just had to palpate over the bruise to check the ribs and it was super tender." I explained only to get a huff in response.
He opened a door and let me walk in. Everyone was already here. "Its about time girl! We were getting worried!" Cass exclaimed.
"Yeah! Guess what we decided?!?! We are going to go back to the club tonight since you and Xavier didn't really dance with us. That way you can end the night right!" Brandi stated excited. She was bouncing up and down clapping her hands.
"No." Xander replied monotonous.
"That sounds fun!" I replied at the same time. Xander and I gave each other incredulous looks. Why the heck is he trying to answer for me?
"The doctor said take it easy." He responded with an annoyed tone.
"And I will, at the club! There is one small problem though Brandi. I only brought the one dress. I didn't think we were going out again." I replied with a glare towards Xander and a nervous smile to Brandi.
"I guess you can wear the same dress again?" Brandi stated unsure.
"That won't be necessary. We can find something suitable for her to wear. BUT, only if you agree to take it easy tonight." Xander bargained. I nodded with a smile.
"Fine. Follow me." came his flat command. I followed Xander out of the rec room and up the stairs to the second floor. We went to the last door down a long hallway. Once Xander opened the door my eyes went wide as saucers.
A guest room that was filled with racks of clothes, shoes, bags, and more was in front of me. Not just any clothes, these were expensive name brand items. All of it for women. Not a single man's clothing was visible.
"What are you doing with a bunch of designers clothes for women?" I question stepping into the room. I start letting my fingers glide over the fabrics of one of the racks.
"These all belonged to my ex-fiance." Xander said curtly. I turned to him with a shocked expression, but didn't say anything. I was not gonna pry. If he wanted to tell me about her he would. "I broke off the engagement a few years ago. After she cheated on me in our bed with my biggest rival. She was only after what I could give her. Money and power. In an attempt to get me to marry her faster, she decided cheating on me with a rival would ensure that outcome. I broke it off immediately. I kept absolutely everything that was bought using my money. She wasn't worthy of my... generosity." He explained.
Wow... poor Xander. Why would any person want to cheat on a god like him.
He chuckled "because apparently I was not giving her enough attention."
Oh geez! Did I say that out loud?! "Why did you keep all of this? Why not sell it or burn it?" I questioned
"I honestly haven't thought about it. I haven't been in here since it happened." he replied genuinely.
"Won't it be weird for you to see me dressed in something your fiance wore? I don't want to make you uncomfortable." I state hesitantly.
"No, but if it makes you feel better a lot of these dresses still have the tags on them. If it has a tag she probably never wore it."
"Okay, let me see..." I reply going through the racks. On the fifth rack I found a beautiful sea green spaghetti strap dress with an open crisscross stringed back. I pulled it out to get a better look at it and noticed it still had a price tag. It would look nice with my black heels that were upstairs and it didn't require me to wear a bra. Its perfect!
"How about this one?" I ask turning to Xander. who is still in the doorway watching me. He walked over, took the dress and held it up to my face.
"This is perfect, it matches your eyes and I don't think she ever wore this." Xander said rubbing the dress fabric between his fingers.
"Alright! This is the one then. Thank you." I smiled at him. Xander gave me a curt nod before leading me out of the room. This should be an interesting everything.
I was glad that Xander opened up about his ex. It made him feel more human to me. I feel sorry for him though. I think this woman played a huge roll in why he is the way he is.
Cold.
Every now and then his eyes give way to other emotions, but usually he has on that cold mask. I already hate this woman and I don't even know her. How could she cheat on this man, break him like that? All for what? His money... power? Stupid, selfish, slut.
She did her damage, but I can see his potential deep down. He just needs love and encouragement to be the man I can see he is deep down. Very, very deep.
