Chapter 2

1401 Words
Xavier's POV As I walked into the charity event hall I was handed a pamphlet and my table number. It looks like most of the workers are young. Mostly college age, but it looks like there are a few high schoolers around too. That is one thing that I envy about these small towns. Anytime the town is in need, everyone pulls together to help the community. Even the kids. The charity event is for the installment of a wheelchair accessible swing in one of the local parks. This is the perfect charity opportunity for our company. Although, I mostly picked it in hope of getting my workaholic brother out of the office and away from work. As usual, he had some other meeting to attend. The stubborn fucker. Ever since our dad passed away, he has been burying himself in work. Don't get me wrong, it has been great for the company. We have been super successful and our profits have improved exponentially. I just worry about him missing out on life. I miss my happy, fun, carefree brother. The one that used to always laugh with me. Dad dying hit him hard though and then that witch he was dating didn't help either. Now he is so serious all the time and it is all about the company. He needs to learn how to take a break. You would think at 27 he would know how to kick back and relax every once and a while. Nope, not a chance in hell. I keep discreetly looking for ways to get him out of the office. However it never works out in my favor. So here I am walking into a charity hall by myself, dressed in a sleek grey suit and black tie. "Wow" I say breathlessly as I take in my surroundings. The charity hall is expertly decorated. This is better than any of my mothers parties, though I would never tell her that. I'm brought back to reality by a woman walking my way. She is slightly on the taller side, tan skin, and black hair. She has on a maroon gown with lace sleeves. Her lipstick matches her dress and the color suits her. "Hello, Mr. King! We are so thrilled that you were able to come to our charity event! I'm Victoria Sanchez, your person of contact for tonight's event." she chimed and extended her hand to me. "Hello, Mrs. Sanchez. Thank you for having me. The decorations this evening look spectacular. I may need the contact information for your decorator so I can use there services for any future parties I host." I exclaimed. "Yes, my friend Maggie is a miracle worker for sure. I don't know what I would have done without her. Unfortunately she is not a full time decorator. She is a nurse at the hospital and owns the local paint and sip shop." she replied. "Shame, she could make a killing as a decorator" I said looking around the room. "What is a paint and sip shop?" "Its a shop where you paint on canvas while you drink alcohol." she explained. That does sound fun. I'm not a very artistic person but I could see the appeal. "This 'Maggie' really sounds like a jack of all trades." I chuckled. "She sure is! she should be around here somewhere." she stated looking around the room. We were interrupted by a family walking up beside us. "Victoria, are you talking about my business partner with handsome men again? Good girl!" the middle aged mother said with a Texas accent. "Hey Jo! Yes actually! Mr. King here was just admiring the decorations along the event hall. He is one of the sponsors that came in from Denver." Victoria chuckled then faced me. "Mr King, this is Jo Matheson. She owns the paint and sip shop with Maggie." "It's nice to make your acquaintance ma'am." I rumbled in my deep voice. I noticed the middle aged mother had two children holding her hands. The boy looked to be about ten and the girl around 6 maybe. I smiled down at them. The boy gave me a cheeky grin while little girl blushed and hid behind her mother's leg. I shook hands with her husband. I think he introduced himself as Trent. I'm not sure though cause his wife Jo started talking over him. "The pleasure is all mine Mr. King. My girl Maggie is pretty amazing! If you'd like, I could introduce you. She is standing over there with her friends." she said pointing. I turn to the direction Jo was pointing to find two beautiful tall, athletic women facing a short petite woman. The short woman had her back to me so I couldn't see her face. However, what I could see was f*****g delicious. She is wearing an emerald green gown that hugs her curves just right. Her golden brown hair flows in waves down to her waist. God! Don't even get me started on that ass!!! How does a women her stature have such a perfect ass? She only looks to be about 5 feet tall and maybe 100 pounds. Here I am at 6'2" wondering how all that ass would feel in my massive hands. What is wrong with me? I never think like this. Short women aren't even my cup of tea. I personally like the tall slim model types. Not this short curvy temptress. Good Lord! I haven't even seen her face yet! I wonder what her face looks like? "Maggie is the shorty in the emerald green gown." Jo exclaimed. FUCK! I turn to Jo and nod in acknowledgement. Not even realizing that Victoria had walked away to talk to other guests. "Her friends Cassandra and Mellany will keep her hostage most of the night. Kids why don't you go steal Ms. Maggie away for me!" Jo stated nudging her kids in Maggie's direction. Jo continued to talk, but I wasn't paying much attention to what she was saying. My eyes were closely following the kids as they moved toward the small temptress. I wanted to see her face. The little girl ran right to her legs and embraced them is as big a hug as her little arms could muster. The boy gently hugged her from behind. Maggie must not have heard them coming, because she jumped slightly. Then she turned to look at them. DOUBLE f**k! She is gorgeous! She has a heart shaped face, big green doe eyes, a small button nose, and plump pink lips. Her skin is slightly sun kissed giving her this summer time glow. Now she is smiling at the kids along with her friends. Her smile is contagious, I'm trying my best not to smile like a dork in front of Jo. Maggie crouched down in front of the little girl and grabbed her hand. Making the little girl spin so her dress flared out slightly like a princess. Everyone in the vicinity started gushing over the little girl. Maggie then turned her attention to the boy. Fixing his shirt and then she moved her hands to caress his hair. It was such a tender and affectionate movement. I could tell this woman, Maggie, had a caring nature about her. A caring nature like that would surely be what my stubborn brother needed at the moment. My brother.... Genius! Yes! Why did I not think of this sooner. My brother needs a good, gentle, caring, kindhearted woman to push him out of his workaholic ways! So, he can relax! Live his life away from the office! But my brother doesn't need just any woman. No, he needed this woman! Maggie. She is perfect and thankfully exactly my brother's type. He usually goes for short petite women. He is a dominant male, so it just works for him. It does amuse me some though, because my brother is taller than me. He is 6'5" so he looks like a giant compared to the women he is interested in. She is perfect! Well, okay maybe I'm jumping the gun on this, but Xander needs this. I'll just try to get to know her a bit first. Although, this may be my best plan yet! I snap back to reality just in time to see her take the kids' hands and start walking over towards Jo and I. Let the plan begin!
