-Lucy's POV-
I went inside the house with heavy feet. I don't wish this moment to end. My moment with Mr. Wise Man. I watched him walk away from the window pane until he was out of my sight. I sighed sadly.. Will I see you again? Will you stay true to your promise that you will come back for me? I hope so...I turned and looked around the house. It was quiet. I am back to reality. What happened to me today with Mr. Wise Man seemed like a dream, a fantasy out from a Mangga Magazine. I wonder if mom and dad are still together. I stared at the staircase and questioned my courage. Should I go and see? What if they aren't, what then? How should I react? What should I say? I was drowned by all of the questions inside my head until I heard my mother's voice. "Lucy? Where have you been? I was so worried about you." She hurriedly came to me and hugged me tight as if her life depended on it. "I am so sorry for giving you pain. I didn't mean to. I got so invested with the pain inside my heart that I became selfish. I became weak.” I pulled away from the hug, “Today, I met a man who saved my life, mom.” I started, “To be honest I wanted to lose myself the moment I learned about you and dad, but this man stopped me from doing so. He made me realize that I should understand that this might be what’s best for the two of you. That you should go separate ways before it gets any worse. I don’t want to become selfish and so I decided to support what decision you both will make. If this is what needs to be done, then be it.” My mother covered her mouth as tears filled her eyes and hugged me again. “I am so sorry. Thank you, dear. You don’t know how much this means to me and your dad. Even though we will separate ways we promised to stay good parents to you. We are so proud of you and always remember that we love you so much!” I hugged her back tightly and closed my eyes. All the pain inside my heart, all the doubts and fears just washed away. The face of Mr. Wise Man came to mind as I smiled..Thank you, Mr. Wise Man.
The next morning I hurriedly went out to the beach to see if I will meet Mr. Wise Man there. I could barely sleep last night and am anxious to see him again. I roamed around, asked some people who passed by if they knew who Mr. Wise Man was. Oh crap! Why did I ever forget to ask his name! I remember him say he lives nearby. I strolled and strolled until my feet hurt. Where could you be? I sat on the sand and watched the sun rise. It was a beautiful day, but my heart is weary. Will I see you again? Or was I just dreaming? Did I make a fool out of myself? You said you will come back for me. I hope you will keep your promise. I sighed as I felt my tummy grumble. I checked the time and it was almost 12 noon. I stood up and gave one final glance to the people around. There was no Mr. Wise Man in sight, I went home feeling lost again.
-Conner’s POV-
“Say what?” I was in shock. I have an uncle? “You heard me right young man. I am your uncle. Do you mind if we come in? It’s drizzling outside.” I blinked my eyes a couple of times trying to figure out what’s going on just then I realized that the man was right it was drizzling outside. “I-I’m sorry for my manners. Please do come in. I am sorry for my place I didn’t expect any visitors especially not at this kind of hour.” I quickly picked the trash on the table and some clothes on the floor. “My place is not big at all, but it’s my home. Please, take a seat. I only have one though.” I scratched the back of my head feeling awkward. Mr. Jack gave a soft laugh “Don’t you worry, son. I am just so happy that I finally found you. After I heard the news about the death of my brother and your mother I searched to and fro for you. Unfortunately, when we arrived at your house nobody was there anymore. I asked your neighbors about your whereabouts, but nobody can tell. That’s when I decided to hire investigators and through them I learned that you were sent to an orphanage by an unknown man. It has been 10 long years of searching and I was about to give up until one of my investigators tracked you here.” He looked at me intently and seriously said. “Conner, seeing you here and alive is one great miracle for me. For the last ten years I felt so restless knowing that you are on your own. Now that I found you I’m not going to ever leave you behind. Hearing information about your past was horrible." He looked down and said. " I know what my brother has done to you and your mother. I am deeply sorry for it. I’m going to give you the life that has been taken from you and wipe out the pain that the past gave you. I will give you the life that you well deserve."He came near me and placed both hands on my shoulders as his gesture of assurance. “Son, I’m going to take you home.”
