-Conner’s POV-
A month has passed and a lot of things has happened. When I agreed to go with my uncle Jack he immediately introduced me to the rest of the Lowell family and to my surprise I was treated rather nicely than I was by my own father. Everyone was so warm to me that I questioned what was behind my father’s attitude. What totally blew my mind is the fact that the Lowell is a very prestigious family. In fact, it owns the “L Group of Companies.” Who would imagine that all these years I am one of the heirs of the biggest company in the City of Brisbane. Yes, I am one of the heirs for I instantly became the CEO of ‘L Airlines.’ Everything went by with a swoosh! My uncle introduced me to all the employees and personally trained me. It was tough at first, but with the experience that I had as the inventory head of Lyla’s Café it didn’t take too long for me to get adjusted. It all felt like a dream; a wonderful one this time. I never thought of belonging to a family and here I am with my two great uncles with their loving wives and children. Although, I am happy that I am finally reunited with my relatives I still couldn’t help feeling empty inside. There is something missing or rather someone is missing. I miss her. I feel guilty as hell that I wasn’t able to tell her about my sudden departure. I was staring at the balcony when uncle Jack placed his arm on my shoulder. “What is the matter, son? Something bothering you? he asked. I let out a sigh “Well, it’s not something; it’s someone.” I bluntly answered. “I didn’t have the chance to tell her that I was leaving. I am not so sure, but I think I left something to her.” Then, a rush came to me and faced him. “I’ll go back to my house. Not in my condo, but my house where you found me, at the Brisbane bay.” He saw the determination in my eyes and just nodded with a smile. “Well, you are a grown man. You are not just any man, you are the CEO of ‘L Airlines’. I think a CEO should know what needs to be done. Go get her, kid” With a tap on my shoulder I gave him a big smile and hurriedly ran out to where my beloved maiden is. I’m coming for you like I’ve promised. I’m coming to get you. I rode in my Prosche 917 Can-Am Syder which my uncle gave me as a homecoming gift and drove my life out to be back in my old home as soon as possible. It was almost 12 noon when I arrived. I immediately parked my car at the parking space of the village and excitedly ran to where my house was when I heard two voices nearby. I slowed my pace and tried to familiarize the voices. I listened intently. For some reason I didn’t want to show myself instead I hid myself behind the bushes. I heard the lady say, “Thank you, Nick for giving me this chance.” Nick? What is going on? I peeked through the bushes to see what was happening. My heart raced and my eyes widened. It’s my lovely maiden with Nick! I can only see my lady’s back and Nick is in front of her with his both hands cupping her face. They kissed?! He kissed her! What the f***!? My muscles were tightening up and I just wanted to punch the hell out of Nick, but then my father’s face came to me. I closed my eyes tightly as I held my breath trying to calm myself down. I will not be like you. I told that to myself even before; that I will never be like my father. I shook my head. This is all my fault. I should have told her first before I went away. Now, she is in somebody else’s arms. I slowly opened my eyes and watched Nick and my goddess go. A tear fell from my eyes. I’m sorry I broke my promise and I’m sorry to know that you have someone new. What we had started and ended quickly or maybe it was just I who felt it. I couldn’t stand the pain inside my heart. I guess I have to let her go. I turned to leave and never come back.
