38 STONEY CREEK Sydney eased her body into the front passenger seat, placing a small pillow behind her lower back. Her doctor had called and asked her to come in a few days early for her next ultrasound; some sort of scheduling problem. She’d cancelled her two appointments with the podiatrist and her hairdresser, and Jax took the day off work to take her in. He helped her on with her seatbelt. They placed the lap belt down low across her thighs to avoid her belly and tightened it. “Hopefully, three more of these and we’re done,” Sydney said.
