Mate

LEXI POV When we got to the club Hagrid tossed his keys to some random person that looked like a valet and grabbed my elbow, leading me to the front of the line. I looked like some important person and Hagrid acted like I was some important person so not too many people bitched about it. He got us in and snagged two drinks from the bar that were meant for someone else and led me to the edge of the room where we could get a good vantage point. I sniffed my drink. It smelled sour and was an odd green color so I didn’t bother to taste it. I was pretty sure it would suck. Hagrid had already tossed his drink back and had put the empty cup on a table that was occupied by four women, most likely Vamps by the looks of them. He ignored their outraged glares and leaned against the wall, taking it in. “What’s he look like?” I showed him a photo on my phone of Kevin, and we scanned the bar. I was also looking for anyone else I would recognize from any of the photos Jody had provided to me. I thought I saw someone familiar so I leaned over to Hagrid. “Stay here, okay? I’m going to head over there and talk to that guy. I don’t want him scared off.” “I’m not scary.” Hagrid looked hurt. I patted his arm. “Don’t tell anyone that, big boy. I like it when they think you’re scary.” I gave him my drink and wandered off to the opposite side of the bar over towards the private booths. I crossed the dance floor, letting my body sway to the music, trying to look like a half-drunk bimbo just enjoying her night, not like a bounty hunter, armed to the teeth, ready to take down her man. I must have succeeded because I could feel someone grinding up against me, putting his hands on my hips and rubbing his d**k into my butt. Eww. I pushed his hands down and moved away, vaguely aware of him moving on to another unsuspecting woman. Not my problem. Don’t make a scene. I made it across the floor and wandered over to the stairs. I needed access to the second floor booths but I found my way blocked by a security guard. I smiled at him, trying to act drunk and charming. “Skuze me please!” I smiled and tried to push my way past him. He put up his arm to stop me. “Sorry, ma’am. These are private booths.” I tried to act offended. “I KNOW that. My boyfriend is up there.” I leaned forward and whispered into the guard’s ear. “I just had to go potty and the line up there was SO LONG.” He laughed at me and moved aside. “I understand. Have a good night.” I quickly climbed the stairs, surprised that it worked. I glanced over and saw Hagrid, still leaning against the wall and watching me. I gave him a finger wave and got to the top floor. The booths were all divided with half walls to give the illusion of privacy, though there was none from people as tall as me. I scanned the room, looking for the blonde man that I had seen earlier. He was in a few of the photos of Kevin and I wanted to talk to him. I didn’t see him so I started working through the crowds, heading to the booth in the far corner where I could get a better vantage point. I noticed a few people looking at me but I continued on like I had a purpose, wishing I hadn’t gotten rid of my drink. It would have been better camouflage. I made it to the far booth and peeked in and did a double take. I’ll be damned. Kevin was sitting in the booth, deep in conversation with a perky blonde wolf. I reached for my purse to pull out the cuffs when the most amazing smell assaulted my nose. My wolf was going crazy in my head. I felt a hand on my shoulder and heard a deep, sultry voice say “Mate.”
