Chapter 6

3836 Words
The Drago household was livelier and brighter this morning than it had been for the past two months. The Dragos were hard at work cooking a grand “Welcome Home” breakfast for Enya. Enya had returned home the night before, escorted by Elders Odin and Athena. The Elders had expressed their deepest apologies for what happened, but the Dragos didn’t really care for what the Elders had to say. The only thing they cared about, was the fact that Enya was home safe. Kai was especially relieved to see Enya again. The moment Kai had seen Enya walk through the door, he had run up and hugged her tightly. He had stuck to her like glue all throughout dinner that night, and didn’t even want to leave her alone when it was time for bed. He was so afraid that she would disappear again in the middle of the night. So Enya had decided to take pity on him, and let him camp out in a sleeping bag next to her bed. Where he proceeded to pass out almost instantly. Kai's P.O.V I opened my eyes wearily. I actually felt like I slept well for once. I sighed and was about to fall back asleep, when I remembered last night. My eyes shot open and I sat up. I looked around the room, my sight zeroing in on the bed. I was definitely in Enya’s room, and that was definitely Enya asleep in her bed. Good, last night wasn’t a dream. I laid back down smiling to myself. She was home; Enya was finally home. I closed my eyes and fell back into a peaceful slumber. Enya’s P.O.V The moment I stepped through the front door behind Elders Odin and Athena, I was showered with love, hugs, and happy tears. Kai practically ran to me, and hugged me so tightly that I thought he would bruise my ribs. I was shocked when I saw him again though. He looked like he hadn’t had a decent night’s sleep since I’d been gone. Kai clung on to me for the rest of the night, only letting me go long enough for me to get ready for bed. I sat on the edge of my bed and took off my shoes. Thankfully the Alphas didn’t take or damage them. I picked up my right shoe, lifted up the insole, and pulled out the necklace I've had all my life. It was a circular silver pendant with a moonstone set in the center, and six etchings of wolf heads around the stone. From what Mr.Calder said, this necklace was left for me by my birth mother. He told Mr. and Mrs.Drago that she had left a note explaining that it was a protection charm for me, which would explain why I always felt safe when I had it near me growing up. I had started hiding it in my shoe when I was 10, so I knew it wouldn’t get lost, stolen, or damaged. I smiled as I put it on and finished changing. I had just finished putting my pajamas on when I heard a knock on my door. “Enya?” It was Kai. I opened the door, and there he stood with a sleeping bag and pillow. I knew what he was asking without him having to say anything, and I just couldn’t say no to him. I gave him a gentle smile and nodded, my silent permission. Kai gave me a tired smile as he walked in and laid his things down beside my bed. I had to hold back a laugh as he practically collapsed onto his sleeping bag while he was setting it down. “Goodnight Kai.” I said tucking him in. I turned off my light and crawled into bed, happy to be home again. I woke up the next morning to the sound of the family bustling around in the kitchen. Kai was still snoring away, and I couldn’t help the snort laugh that burst out when I looked at him. His hair was a mess, sticking out at all angles, and drool coming out the corner of his mouth. I covered my mouth to keep from laughing out loud and sat up, careful not to wake him. I got out of bed and tip toed over to my dresser. I brushed and braided my waist length hair, and then sat back down on my bed. On any other day I would have been dressed to go running by now, but I just wasn’t in the mood today. I laid down on my back, staring at the ceiling, and absentmindedly playing with my necklace. I closed my eyes again and drifted into a place between consciousness and sleep. “Hello Enya. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” I hear an unfamiliar female voice. “Who are you?” I asked the voice. As confused as I was to have a new voice in my head, I wasn’t afraid. In fact I felt oddly calm, almost relieved. Like I had been waiting for this voice to talk to me my entire life. “My name is Arima, I'm your wolf.” I was shocked and in utter disbelief. “My wolf? How can I have a wolf?!” I asked, eager for her reply. “I’ll explain everything when we have more time to talk. Just know that I’m with you now, and you can always reach out to me.” I sat up with a start, my eyes wide open. “A wolf… I have a wolf… I'm half werewolf!!” I practically screamed my thoughts as I had a little bit of a mental freak out. “Take it easy Enya, I can still hear you.” Arima said, amused by my excitement. “Oops, sorry Arima.” I apologized sheepishly. “It’s just, this explains so much. Why I'm so fast and strong, and why regular wolves like me so much. It just makes so much sense!” I'm practically bouncing on my bed from being so excited, when I hear Kai stir. “G’morning Enya.” He says tiredly, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. “Good morning Kai.” I say beaming at him. He cracks an eye open and looks at me confused. “How are you so energetic already?” He asked yawning. “I’m just happy to be home.” I replied still smiling. Which was true, I really was happy to be back home. “Me too.” He said giving me a small relieved smile. “C’mon, I think I smell breakfast.” I say standing up and reaching out my hand to him. Kai took my hand and I helped him up. Then we both headed downstairs to breakfast. As much as I was happy to be home again, it couldn’t even compare to how excited I was to finally meet Arima. After breakfast I had gone back up to my room and laid down on my bed so we could talk. She explained that because I was a half-blood, my wolf was maturing slower than pure blood werewolves. So I wouldn’t be able to shift until I was 18. She also told me that it was actually the torture from the Alphas that finally ‘woke her up’ so to speak, and that’s why we were able to talk now. I had asked her if she knew anything about my birth mother, but unfortunately she didn’t. And sure, I was a little disappointed that she couldn’t tell me more about who I was, but I really wasn’t all that bothered. It was just nice to finally know more about what and who I was. “Even though the last two months were filled with absolute agony, I'm glad something good came out of it.” I said to Arima. “I'm so sorry I wasn’t there for you.” Arima apologized. “It’s alright Arima. It’s like I was telling Leon, I knew that violence was a possibility in that situation. It’s no one's fault but my own.” I said reassuring her. “Mmmh. Speaking of Leon, he and his wolf are pretty good looking.” I just about gave myself whiplash with how fast I sat up. There I was, mouth hanging open, eyes wide, and a deep blush in my cheeks as Arima replayed the memories of my interactions with Leon the day before in my mind. I just about died of embarrassment when she recalled how close we had been to kissing a few times, and how very naked Leon had been. “Oh for the love of all that is holy, please stop!” I begged falling back onto my bed, hands covering my now very crimson red face. “You're adorable Enya.” Arima said chuckling. “Stop. Please, just stop.” I said turning over and groaning into my pillow. “Alright, alright, I’m sorry.” Arima apologized. “I just think it’s nice that after everything you’ve been through, you can still find it in your heart to forgive them. Even more so that you can have possible feelings for one of them.” I sat up, got off my bed, and walked over to my window. “Thinking Leon is attractive doesn’t mean I have feelings for him.” I retort crossing my arms and looking out at the autumn colors. “Attractive isn’t even the right word usage.” Arima practically moaned. “He's absolutely gorgeous.” I snorted a bit and chuckled. “What?” Arima asked confused. “Exactly which one of us was it that had the crush on Leon?” I asked teasingly. “Alright, I see your point. No more teasing about Leon.” Arima said, and I swear I could hear the pout in her voice. The thought of a wolf pouting just made me laugh again. “I can’t wait to see what you look like.” I said aloud, and smiled at my reflection in the window glass. “You mean what WE look like.” Arima said happily. “Right.” I said smiling. “What WE look like.” Echoing her words, I couldn’t help but imagine what our wolf would look like. How big would we be? What color would our fur and eyes be? How much faster and stronger will we be? Blocking Arima from my thoughts, there was one other thing I wondered about. Since I was half werewolf, would I get a destined mate? And if so, who was he? For a brief moment, I even entertained the slight possibility of having Leon as my mate. Alpha Sterling looked up from the report he was currently reading over as Leon groaned and put his head down on the table. He hid his amused smirk behind the papers in his hands and continued reading. Thorin had been bombarding Leon with thoughts about Enya all day, and Alpha Sterling found it extremely entertaining. And although there was no way of knowing if Leon and Enya were mates since she wasn’t a wolf, Alpha Sterling would enjoy watching his son's romantic struggle until that time came. Alpha Sterling looked up again a few moments later, surprised by the sound of a chair falling over. The sight that met his gaze forced him to slap a hand over his mouth so he wouldn’t laugh out loud. Leon was now standing, having gotten up so abruptly that he knocked over the chair he had been sitting in. His face was flushed, and he was clearly flustered. Whatever Thorin had said or shown Leon must have been particularly embarrassing. He smiled and hid his laughter again as Leon picked the chair up off the floor and pushed it up to the table. Then, he sped walked out of the room, his face becoming redder with every step. As soon as Leon was out of the vicinity, he started to laugh. Even though he was able to sympathize with Leon’s current plight, it didn’t make the situation any less amusing. Leon's P.O.V I was making my way up the stairs of the Pack House to my bedroom when I heard my father laughing. I know he didn’t mean any harm by laughing, but it certainly didn’t make my situation any better. Especially when Thorin had been harassing me with thoughts and fantasies about Enya all day. Even my dream last night had been consumed with her imagine. My skin tingled and itched to be touched by her. I yearned to feel her fingers running through my hair, as our lips and mouths clashed and parted in a hungry, heated kiss. Our breathes coming out in pants and moans as she wraps her legs around my waist, and my hands roam down her back to caress her shapely behind. “By the grace of the Goddess, Thorin, I'm begging you to please stop before I explode.” I say out loud groaning. Thorin chuckled, but said nothing. “Thorin?” I asked pleadingly. “Mmm, no.” He said and then went silent again as he sent another image of Enya to me. I grab the sides of my head and groan as I pace across my room, trying to distract myself from Thorin's persistent pestering. As I was pacing, I happened to catch a glimpse of myself in my bedroom mirror. I was beet red in the face, and the hot flush extended up to my ears and down my neck to my chest. I was even starting to sweat at this point. I groaned again, walked over to my bed, and flopped onto it with a heavy sigh. How would I be able to concentrate on my Alpha training, if all Thorin wanted to do was claim Enya? We weren’t even sure if she was our mate. Yet here I was, lying on my bed, being shown another fantasy of Enya under us in blissed ecstasy as we claimed her as our mate and Luna. I ground the palms of my hands into my eyes and groaned again. “Thorin, you’re going to be the death of me if you keep this up.” “Sorry, not sorry.” He said while sending me another fantasy. This wasn’t evening teasing anymore. The little s**t was mocking me, tormenting me even. “Thorin, what do I have to do to get you to stop torturing me?” I asked, though it was more like begging at this point. “I want to see Enya again.” He said bluntly. I sat up, shocked at his response. “Are you insane, Thorin?!” I mentally shout at him. “We can’t just go see her. We have duties, responsibilities, and training to be the next Alpha. And what makes you think she actually wants to see us again so soon?” I ramble off, flustered. “She said that she would like to see us again yesterday before she went home.” Thorin pointed out matter-of-factly. I thought about it for a moment and sighed. “Will you really let up if we go see her?” I ask Thorin skeptically. “Maybe. No promises though.” Thorin said chuckling. “I don’t have much of a choice here, do I?” I asked defeated, already knowing the answer. “Not really, no.” Thorin replied smugly. I shake my head as I stand up and pack my bag. It was already 10 at night, and it was going to be close to midnight by the time I reached the Drago house. Not that Thorin would listen to reason at this point. I finish packing my bag with extra clothes and shoes, open my bedroom window, drop my bag, and jump down. I shifted before I even reached the ground, and Thorin took over. Thorin picked up the bag and started running at a dead sprint towards the Drago's. With Thorin now in control of our body, my mind began to wander, and I started to think about everything that could go wrong. What if Enya thought I was a creep for visiting in the middle of the night? What if she turned me away? What if she hated me after tonight? With questions running through my mind a mile-a-minute, I didn’t even notice when we reached the Drago house. “Well this is a surprise.” Thorin said, bringing my attention back to the present. I looked through his eyes to see Enya climbing out of her own bedroom window. She jumped from the window to a nearby tree and sat on one of the branches. She looked so beautiful under the moonlight, I nearly forgot why we were there. Instead of letting us shift, Thorin started walking towards her. “Thorin, what are you doing?” I asked, but he didn’t reply. I was mortified as Thorin walked up to the tree and sat down in her line of sight, looking up at her like a puppy waiting for a treat. He even whined a little to get her attention. I don’t know if it was fortunate or unfortunate, but Enya did look at us after Thorin whined, and I thought my heart would burst. Her emerald green eyes lit up in the moonlight, and seemed to glow brighter than the stars. Then she spoke, and her voice was nearly enough to make me weak-kneed. “Hello Leon.” Enya had ended up spending most of the day exchanging idle chit chat with Arima. She tried to fall asleep, but wasn’t having much luck, so she decided to get some fresh air. She opted for sitting in the tree outside her bedroom window rather than going for a late night run. Partially because it was late, and partially because she didn’t want to be far from Kai at the moment. She climbed out her bedroom window, and jumped the short distance to the tree. Sitting on a thick, sturdy branch, she gazed up at the night sky, admiring the moon and stars. She heard a whine from below and looked down confused. Only to be shocked by the sight of Leon’s wolf. Her shock only lasted a moment before she addressed his presence. “Hello Leon.” She said smiling down at him. “Wait there.” She said before climbing down the tree. Thorin's tail started wagging the moment her feet touched the ground, and it wagged faster with every step closer she took towards him. Thorin lowered his head, dropped the bag of clothes, and nudged Enya with his muzzle. Enya laughed quietly. “Am I to take that as an invitation to pet you?” Enya asked quirking an eyebrow and placing her hands on her hips. Thorin laid down, tail wagging excitedly. Enya laughed again and reached up to scratch Thorin behind his ear. As soon as she touched him, he made a sound akin to a cat's purr, but deeper. It sounded more like a happy rumble. After a while of scratching behind his ear, Enya stopped. “Not that I don’t mind petting you, but I don’t even know you’re name, and I’m pretty sure Leon has something he'd like to say too. Right?” Thorin whined a little, but he got up and walked behind the tree to shift. A moment later, Enya heard Leon clear his throat. “I apologize Miss Enya, but would you mind passing me my bag?” Enya looked down and chuckled, he had indeed forgotten to grab his bag. She picked it up and reached around the tree to give it to him, making sure to avert her gaze. He didn’t say anything as he took the bag. He got dressed quickly and walked back around to where Enya still stood. “Thank you.” Leon said, a blush evident on his face. “So, what’s his name?” Enya asked somewhat awkwardly. “Huh?” Leon asked, not quite paying attention. “Your wolf. What’s his name?” Enya asked again giving Leon a shy smile. “Oh, right.” Leon said, chuckling nervously. “His name is Thorin.” “Does Thorin usually demand ear scratches?” Enya asked with a small laugh. Leon's blush deepened. “No, I'm sorry, he isn’t usually like that.” Leon said grumbling. “Don’t be sorry, I didn’t really mind.” Enya said smiling. Leon returned the smile shyly. A tense and awkward silence fell between them. Neither knew what to say. “Tension, party of two.” Enya said jokingly, effectively breaking the silence. They simultaneously broke out into fits of laughter, hands over their mouths so they wouldn’t be too loud. “So, what were you doing out?” Leon asked. “I just needed a moment to think, enjoy the night air.” Enya replied and side glanced at him. “What were you doing out here?” Leon blushed again and scratched the back of his neck. “Oh, I, um… I-I wanted to check and see how you were doing.” Leon said, stuttering a bit. Looking anywhere except at Enya. Enya crossed her arms over her chest. “Really? You were coming to check on me, at midnight?” She quirked an eyebrow and smirked at him, silently indicating that she didn’t believe him entirely. “Shall I tell you why I think you're here?” Enya asked, taking a step towards him and looking into his eyes. Leon stiffened, too embarrassed to say anything. “I think you’re here, because you wanted to go for a run together. But you were anxious about whether or not you should come. So by the time you finished debating with yourself, it was already late. So you just decided to commit to it, and came to see me anyway. That about sum it up?” Leon breathed out a relieved sigh. “Yeah, tha-that about sums it up.” He said with a nervous chuckle. “How about tomorrow, noon?” Enya asked. “That sounds great!” Leon said beaming at her. “Okay, see you tomorrow.” Enya said walking towards the tree. “I could help you up.” Leon offered as he watched Enya start to climb the tree. Enya gave him a pointed look and easily hoisted herself up to the branch she needed. She jumped inside and looked down at him to make a point. “Or not.” He said raising his hands in surrender and smiling impishly. “See you tomorrow.” He said. “Tomorrow.” Enya echoed with a firm nod and closing her window. She watched as Leon walked away, a large grin evident on his face. She got back into bed, smiling to herself. “Tomorrow.” She said again as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
