Dissonantia’s P.O.V
“MUMMYYYY!!!!” I heard my son whine loudly as he stormed through my office doors. I groaned as I dropped the paperwork I was looking over. “What is it now Delaney?” I asked, exasperated. “I want to go back up!” He whined, shaking his fists and stomping his feet. “Ugh, I don’t have time for your temper tantrums.” I replied sternly, standing up from my desk. “But mom.” He groaned out, pouting. “NO!!” I yelled, slamming a hand down on my desk, silencing my son’s further protests. I walked around my desk and stood in front of my son. “You’re the prince of the Pheonyxians.” I said sternly, clasping my hands behind my back. “Act like it.” Delaney huffed as he turned around and stomped out of my office.
I walked back behind my desk and sighed heavily as I slumped down into my seat. I leaned against the armrest, propping my elbow on it and rested my head in my hand. Then there was a knock on the door as one of my generals peered in from the open doorway. “My lady?” He said hesitantly, taking a step inside. “May I come in, or is this a bad time?” He asked grabbing the door handle. I heaved a sigh before I answered. “Now is as good of a time as any.” I said sitting up. “What is it general?” “I have a report from the captain I sent out scouting in the werewolf territory.” He said striding into the office. “And?” I asked short on patience. “There’s no evidence that the werewolves or human Seers suspect anything. I think it’s safe to say they have no knowledge we’ve been scouting the area.” He said while handing me the report.
“Excellent.” I replied as I placed the report to the side and stood back up. Striding over to the window I glanced out at the amassed army of Pheonyxian soldiers I had spent the last 16 years cultivating. “You can go now general.” I commanded barely glancing back at him. “Yes my lady.” He replied with a bow. My gaze followed him as he strode towards the door. He turned and bowed once again before exiting my office, closing the door behind himself as he did. “Now if only my idiotic son would actually help with my plans.” I thought to myself as I looked back out the window at my army. “I swear on the River Styx, Poseidon will learn what the true wrath of Hell looks like.”
Delaney’s P.O.V
I stormed out of my mother’s office, nearly running into one of her generals in the process. I glared at him and stormed off to my room. I nearly broke the door as I threw it open and slammed it shut. I ran into my room and jumped straight into my private salt water pool, not even bothering to strip out of my clothes first. I sighed as the water enveloped my body, content in the peace that the water gave me. My mother had told me ever since I was young that I was a bastard child, born of Poseidon’s betrayal, and that my role as her only child was to help her get her revenge. Honestly though, I couldn’t care less about my mother’s obsession with getting revenge on Poseidon.
The only thing I wanted in life, was to live my life outside of my mother’s control. To do what I wanted, when I wanted. Maybe even find an intimate partner that would fulfill my cravings. Resurfacing and floating on my back in the water, I immediately thought about the young male Seer who’s nightmares I had fed on before. I felt my face heat up as a shiver ran down my spine. He was obviously strong, and his pain tasted so good. I could only imagine what kind of delicious pain we could generate together. I ran a finger over my lips as I fantasized about him, my obsession with him growing along with my excitement and desire.
Kai’s P.O.V
I shuddered as a shiver ran down my spine. I suddenly had a bad feeling, though I wasn’t sure why or what it could have been about. I stood up from my desk and stepped over to the window, thinking about Enya again. The winter landscape outside was cold and dark, almost eerie; yet at the same time, I felt a sense of peace and hope. Like new life blooming in spring, I knew in my heart that Enya would eventually come back to us. I leaned back against the desk, partially sitting on it, and placed a hand on the discolored pages of the book Enya had left me. “Please come home soon.” I said quietly, silently praying to whatever Gods would listen to keep Enya safe.
Enya’s P.O.V
The wolves and I were all soaking wet, tired, and hungry by the time the sun began to set. We made our way back to the den, keeping an eye out for anything to eat along the way. By the time we made it back to the den, the wolves and I had caught enough rabbits for each of us. The wolves filed into the den first while I stood watch outside. I started to head into the den, but stopped just inside the entrance. I turned and looked in the direction of my family’s home. It was as if I could feel Kai calling to me. “Are you alright Enya?” Arima asked concerned. “Yeah, I’m fine.” I replied, turning back around and heading inside. “I’m just worried about Kai and the rest of the family.” Arima didn’t reply, but I could feel that she felt sorry for me. Maybe I could make some crystal protection charms for them.
The following months passed by in a flash as Enya fell into a daily routine of hunting, training, and making protection charms for the Dragos. All through the winter months Enya had grown much stronger, and had grown even closer to Arima. Even though they had never shifted, their connection was just as strong as if they had known each other for years. It almost seemed unnatural how strong their bond already was after only a few months. They trusted each other entirely, and their bond was only destined to grow stronger.
Enya’s P.O.V
“I can’t believe that it’s already March.” I said out loud as I walked out of the den into the mid morning sun with the wolves. Seven of the younger unmated wolves had carefully wrapped packages gently held in their mouths. Each package held a protection charm for each member of the Drago family. “I know.” Arima replied. “It feels like winter just flew by.” “Yeah.” I said reaching down to pet each of the wolves. “Take these to my family, and return safely.” I said sternly, almost as if I was giving them an order or command. The wolves nodded at me before turning to run in the direction of the Drago home. I quietly prayed that the charms would be enough to help keep them safe from whatever danger was to come in the future.
Involuntarily, Enya’s mind wandered to thoughts of Leon. She wondered how he’d been doing these past few months that she’d been gone. “Thinking about your boyfriend, huh?” Arima said teasingly, making Enya’s face heat up with a fierce blush. “Shut it!” Enya thought back embarrassed. Arima laughed as Enya fumed, her face still a bright crimson. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Leon, far from it in fact. She just didn’t want to get her hopes up if he wasn’t her destined mate. It would kill her if she ended up hurting him because she held on to false hope. Enya looked around at the remaining wolves from the pack. A sense of loneliness washing over her.
Meanwhile at the Drago house, the Drago women were working together on a gift for Enya. It was a beautiful ankle length white flowing summer dress, with wolfsbane flowers embroidered on the bodice and along the bottom hem. They had been working on it since the beginning of winter and were just about finished with it. “I hope Enya likes it.” Akia said as she finished another flower along the hem. “I’m sure she will.” Messina replied finishing a flower on the bodice. “I can’t believe it took us three months to finish it.” Messina said looking over her work. “Well, mom wanted it to be perfect.” Akia replied, looking over her own work. “And perfect it is.” Mrs.Drago said proudly as she walked in with a tray of food and drinks for her two daughters. “This will be a perfect gift for Enya.” Mrs.Drago stated while looking over the now completed dress. Just then, the three women were startled by the howling of wolves and Mr.Drago yelling for his wife.
“Rumina!” Mr.Drago had yelled out when he saw the wolves run up to the house. Within minutes the entire family was running outside, practically tripping over each other as they went. When everyone was finally outside, each wolf presented the package it held to the respective person that it was intended for. The Dragos all looked at each other, perplexed by this sudden event. Kai was the first to open his package. He let out a loud gasp as he pulled out a twisted leather cord bracelet with a carved red crystal pendant.
One by one, each of the Dragos opened their packages and stared in wonder at the gifts they received. Tears began to well up in their eyes as they embraced each other. Then, suddenly, Mrs.Drago gasped loudly, breaking the hug, and ran back to the house. She returned moments later with her own wrapped parcel. She walked slowly towards the wolves and knelt down in front of them, presenting the parcel to them. “Please, take this to her.” She pleaded. She didn’t know if the wolves could actually understand her, but she hoped they would. Relief washed over her as one of the wolves gently took the parcel in it’s mouth, before running back to the woods with it. The other wolves followed suit, and the Dragos were left just as shocked and confused as when the wolves arrived.
Enya’s P.O.V
To say I was shocked and surprised when the wolves came back with a parcel for me would have been an understatement. I was even more surprised when I opened it to find a beautiful white summer dress, carefully wrapped inside. The pure white of the dress was beautifully contrasted by the yellow and purple wolfsbane flowers embroidered throughout. I felt tears begin to form as I hugged the dress to my chest. “Thank you.” I managed to whisper out as Arima gently pushed to the forefront of my mind. A comforting reminder that she was there for me if I needed her.
I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand and rushed to my room, eager to try the dress on. I nearly cried again as I pulled the dress on and smoothed it out. It fit me perfectly, accentuating my figure in a way that was sexy and elegant, yet modest and classy. I rushed down to the lower level to look at myself in the water. “You look lovely.” Arima said as I stared adoringly at my reflection. “Thank you.” I replied as I ran my fingers over the little embroidered flowers, quietly promising that I would treasure this gift.
A thought suddenly sprung to mind and I practically sprinted to the library. “What has you so excited?” Arima asked curiously as I scanned the shelves of books. “I’m going to enchant my dress.” I replied, grabbing a book and flipping through the pages. “What for?” Arima asked confused. “So that it doesn’t get dirty or damaged.” I replied matter-of-factly, placing the book down on the table as I found the enchantment I needed. I carefully removed the dress and placed it gently on the table next to the book. With this enchantment, even sea water wouldn’t be able to degrade it.
