It Wasn’t Supposed To Be Like This

Chapter 8

*AVERYS POINT OF VIEW*

It’s been months since I was taken, we stayed in the warehouse for a couple of days before we moved. I have no idea where we went but I do know it felt like hours before my blindfold came off again. I’m kept in a small room, given 3 meals a day and I’m allowed to shower but right now that’s all I’m allowed to do, it’s getting boring.

“Well hello there my soon to be queen.” I look up to see who I believe is Alpha Zeke, he’s never fully given me his name but I listen through the door sometimes and I’ve caught people calling him that.

“I don’t understand what you want.” That’s a lie I know exactly what he wants, but he hasn’t tried to mark me or anything yet it’s been months why hasn’t he made a move.

“Oh my sweet little Luna, are you that naive?” I told him a few weeks ago that I didn’t know I was a wolf until I turned 18 that I have no idea what pack I come from and he doesn’t believe me.

“I already told you I’m new to this and I didn’t get a chance to find out where I came from before you took me.” Another lie. He’s just looking at me with a frown on his face, I can’t tell if he knows I’m lying or not but I have to keep acting oblivious.

“In due time my dear, I will tell you everything you need to know, one of the omegas will be in here shortly to help you get ready for dinner tonight. I expect you there by 7.” Does this mean I’m finally getting out of my room!? I have to form a plan to let people know where I am.

“Yes sir, what would you like me to wear?” I haven’t worn new clothes in forever I’ve just been given old leggings and t-shirts and after some time I had to stop wearing my bra and underwear because they were getting too gross.

“The omega coming to help you get ready is bringing you a dress and new undergarments you will wear that.” With that he turns his chin up and walks out. Okay Avery it’s time for a plan. You can do this.

*Xaviers point of view*

It’s been months now and there’s still no sign of her, I was able to track her scent down to an old abandoned warehouse but by the time we got there she was gone. We have absolutely no leads on who took her or where they would go. I knew I shouldn’t have left her that morning.

“Axel please get ahold of Avery’s mom Delilah I need to ask her more questions I feel like she knows something she’s not telling me.” Axel has been of great service to me during this time, he hasn’t slept much like me because we’re constantly trying to find clues, we ended up moving all of Avery’s family into the pack house for their safety which we should have done way before anyone had the chance to take her. It took a lot of convincing her mom wanted to stay at there house just in case she escaped and came back home but I assured them that this would be better for their safety and she finally reluctantly agreed.

“You wanted to see me Xavier?” She doesn’t call me Alpha which kind of annoys me but she’s not originally from our pack and she has been away from the customs of wolf life for a while so I let it slide.

“Yes, please sit.” I motion to the chair across my desk.” I don’t want you to feel attacked but I feel like there is some information you’ve been withholding, I need to know everything that happened before your pack was destroyed.” She hesitated knowing that I found out she was withholding information I would become furious.

“I honestly don’t remember much about the time before my pack was destroyed. The only thing I do remember is my father making a deal with some pack, I wasn’t able to hear what the deal was because I walked in at the end of it, but I know when they seen me come in they became quiet.” She paused, I was hoping there was more she could give me.

“I think I remember the name of the guy he talked to though, it was Alpha Zack or maybe it was Zeke, I can’t remember exactly but I know it was one or the other.” I nodded my head what she said was super helpful, there was an Alpha Zack around we were in good terms but his pack resided far away from us, but Alpha Zeke his territory wasn’t far from ours, and we had recently broken our peace treaty, and I swore to him if he ever came back to my side of the land I would kill him.

“Thank you Delilah you’ve been helpful.” She gets up to leave before turning around to look at me.

“Is she still alive?” I stop for a moment the bond was becoming weak but I could still feel her, mated or not she had a strong pull on my body it almost felt as if we were one without being one.

“I believe she is, and I don’t think they’ve marked her yet because I haven’t felt the bond break.” Though it wasn’t much it still gave both of us hope. Once she left I just sat in my chair staring around the room, my office was beginning to feel more and more like a prison this used to be my sanctuary where I would come to escape everyone but now it’s where I come to think about her, I had a few pictures of her around my office that she didn’t know I had, one from her birthday party her back was turned to me but you could still see how beautiful she was and she looked so elegant that night. The other was from the morning she went missing, I couldn’t help but snap a picture of her sleeping before I left she looked like an angel and the light was hitting her face just right making her freckles noticeable. My office was a cherry oak wood with white trim and a white desk, a bookshelf built into the wall and a white leather couch on the other side of the room.

“Axel please come up here and bring 2 of our greatest hunters and please find me the contact information for Alpha Zack and Alpha Zeke.”

“Yessir we’ll be right up”

Within five minutes Axel appeared with Tony and Victor in tow.

“Thank you gentlemen, Avery’s mom gave me new information and we finally have a lead in where to go.” I began to explain to them the deal she overheard and that she knew the Alpha her father was talking to was either Zack or Zeke.

“Tony and Victor, I need you to gather up a few of your other best men and go into Zekes territory since it’s the closest and do some digging around, our peace treaty is nonexistent which means if he sees you or any of his members do they can kill you, so please be careful. This is who you’re looking for.” I showed them a picture of Avery.

“Sir we also need something that smells like her that way we have a way to sniff her out.” I figured they would say that, I had one of her favorite t-shirts here with me, I occasionally slept with it so I could feel some kind of comfort. I handed it to them and they nodded.

“You guys are dismissed please let me know your full plan and when you guys plan on leaving.”they left my room leaving just me and Axel.

“Alpha if I may, I don’t think Alpha Zack is capable of kidnapping someone, his territory is too far away and honestly I don’t think many people actually know of Avery and her abilities since she’s been living amongst humans for so long.” He was right but we can’t just brush everyone off.

“Though I do agree, we still need to cover all bases, please call him and ask if he’s been this way recently.” I was on very good terms with him and he was welcome in and out of my territory anytime I don’t think he has any reason to lie to me if he were here.

“As far as Alpha Zeke I don’t think we should call him because then he would know we’re on to him.” He nodded and left the room. I’ve got to get a move on and find her before it’s too late.

*Alpha Zekes Point of View*

“Father I’m becoming impatient I’m ready to mark her.” It’s been months now I don’t know why he keeps making me wait but it’s ridiculous. The longer we wait the closer we get to her being found.

“I told you we need to wait until she has her first heat so you can mate and mark her and hopefully during that time she’ll get pregnant with your pup, that way the powers she possess will continue on through your blood line.” I understood what he was saying but it’s been months and she still hasn’t had her heat, it should of happened by now.

“I’m going to give it one more week, if it doesn’t happen before then I’m taking matters into my own hands.” He knows how impatient I am and he knows he’s pushing my limits.

“I understand, I’m sure it’ll happen soon.” I waved for him to get out of my office,

Zeke we need to do this soon. I feel someone or something is coming.

I know Max we just have to give it a little more time.

“Alpha she’s ready for dinner now, when do you want me to bring her down?” Dylan has been my most faithful servant, to go as far as pretending to be in love with her. She was wrapped around his finger.

“Bring her down to me in 20 minutes please Dylan, if all goes according to plan I will be making you my beta by the end of the week.” My pack wasn’t running as a normal pack right now, we were small only made up of about 20 or so rogues I had come across needing sanctuary. My pack was small but everyone was still very loyal, for weeks we had searched through the neighborhoods around her killing random girls close to her age planning our precise “rogue” attacks making it seem like we were looking for something but knowing where she was all along. It threw Alpha Xavier off our tracks a little bit, but knowing we were so close to her caused him to increase patrol. They fell right into our trap.

“Yes alpha we will see you again shortly.” I think that over time Dylan did come to actually love her but because he was so devoted to me he has easily pushed those feelings aside, he knows there are more important matters at hand here.

*Averys point of view*

M-Clarice please talk to me I don’t know what to do.-

C-Avery I’m here, they’ve been giving you something to keep me suppressed, but listen when you get out of here you need to ask to use the restroom and when you do you need to open the window, find a way to draw some blood and smear it on the outside of the window, Xavier will be able to track your scent that way.-

I hope she’s right, I break the connection when I hear a knock on the door.wonder who it is this time.

“Come in.” I figured whoever it was is coming to escort me down to dinner, the omegas that came to get me ready have me in this ridiculous ball gown, it is pretty, with a silver bodice that fades into pink at the bottom, but still ridiculous, why make me dress so nice to just go downstairs and eat I don’t get it.

“Alpha is ready for you now.” I look up to see Dylan what a douche he was supposed to love me but I guess he was just playing me to gather info for Alpha Zeke.

“Okay, can I use the restroom before you take me to him?” He nods his head and walks me to the restroom. Please let this work. I don’t know how much longer I can stay here.

“I’ll be just a moment thank you.” Once I was in the bathroom I frantically started looking around for something that could draw blood. I opened up the medicine cabinet and found a razor, maybe I can intentionally cut my legs. I leaned down and braced myself this was going to hurt, in one quick scoop I moved the razor the wrong way and cut myself, blood started to slowly trickle down my leg, I went over and opened the window and swiped some blood from my leg and wiped it outside the window, please work.

“Are you almost done in there you’re going to be late and Alpha isn’t going to be happy with me if we’re late.” I quickly put everything back where I had found it, and dabbed the blood away.

“Just one moment, my stomach started to hurt, I’m done now.” I quickly flushed the toilet to make the story believable.

“About time, he’s waiting let’s go.” We walked down the hallway to the dining area. To my surprise when Dylan opened the door the dining hall was packed. Zeke stood up and looked at me.

“Ladies and gentlemen the guest of honor has arrived, I know you’re all wondering why I’ve asked you all here tonight. I would like to announce that I have found my mate and your new Luna.” My mouth dropped open, no this can’t be happening. He’s going to mark me soon, I was in serious danger now.

*Xaviers point of view*

“Alpha we’re planning on making a move tonight, are you coming with us?” If there were any chance of Avery being at Zekes pack house I was definitely going. I needed to be with her, I needed to know she was safe and I needed to rescue her myself.

“Of course I’m coming thank you Axel for letting me know. Have we seen any movement? Anyone come or go?” He shakes his head, that’s odd, we’ve been watching them for days now and no one has moved a muscle.

“What time are we leaving?” I figure it’ll be after dark, I was hoping it would be so I’d have time to train some.

“We planned on leaving around 10, but the later the better that way they will hopefully be asleep and our attack will blindside them.”Axel made a very good beta, he was smart, trustworthy and always one step ahead.

“Okay good thinking, I’m going to go get some training in, and honestly I suggest the other warriors coming with us should train as well. Tell them to meet me there in 20 minutes.”

I made my way to my room to change into some athletic shorts, my room was so empty without Avery here, my heart hurts, and Isaac hasn’t spoken to me in days, he’s mad because I haven’t done more to find her.

Isaac I’m doing everything I can but we’ve had to make small moves so we didn’t alert them. But we’re going to get her back tonight I promise.

I know you are. It’s just hard to be away from mate this long. I don’t want anything to happen to her.

“Alpha we’re ready to begin.” I nod, we begin training, we all brawl back and forth switching opponents every 15 minutes so we can make the best of our time, before we realize it it’s already 7 o’clock and an omega comes in to let us know it’s time for dinner. Once dinner is done I head to my room and shower. I need to get some rest so I’m in the right mindset, before I know it Axel is waking me up telling me it’s time to move. We make our way to the edge of the territory before stripping down and leaving our clothes in bags next to a tree.

“Alright everyone let’s get down to business, stay alert and stay focused. My mates life is at stake here.” They all nod as we begin to shift. We run fast through the woods getting closer to their house,

“Guys I smell her she’s here, but it’s not just her scent, it’s mixed with her blood” I swear if they hurt her I will kill them there on sight.

*Averys point of view* *viewers discretion sensitive content ahead*

I was sitting back in my room trying to digest the information from dinner when I started to smell something really familiar, sage and pine, Xavier? Is he finally coming for me?

“Alpha wants you in his room.” Dylan walked in and grabbed me, I don’t want to go but if I could smell Xavier it means he’s close and this won’t last long..

“Did he say why?” I’m not dumb I know why but I needed to by time.

“No he didn’t now enough small talk let’s go.” He drug me out of my room and down the hall. Once we reached his door Dylan knocked and then left me Zeke opened the door and drug me inside.

“I’ve been putting this off long enough.” He reeked of booze.

“Alpha Zeke please don’t do this how do you even know about me why do you want me!?” Tears began to fall Xavier please hurry.

“Your grandfather and my dad made a deal, one that would make our packs unstoppable, he promised that my dads first born and your moms first born would be chosen mates for each other and forced to mate, you are rightfully mine after all you were promised to me. My dads been making me wait until your first heat so I could get you pregnant with a pup but Max is becoming to impatient.” He stepped over towards me and I heard him growl. He grabbed me by my throat and threw me on the bed, Xavier please hurry.

He crawled up in between my legs and I tried to fight as much as I could but he pinned my legs down with his knees and started to undo his pants. He reached a hand down and pulled my leggings down from my waist and ripped my panties off.

“Oh my little mate already wet and ready for what I’m about to give you.” My stomach churned this can’t be happening. I felt his tip at my entrance closing my eyes and bracing for impact there was no stopping him. I felt him thrust inside of me. The pain causing me to black out. I was giving up, I had accepted my fate, Xavier wasn’t going to make it to me in time.
